Livestrong - Lance Armstrong - cui bono | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 10327591 United States 01/18/2013 07:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Who benefits from a confession? was it real? Did he dope (as defined by banned, yet not illegal supplements/procedures? Maybe, probably - BUT, if so, was it was only leveling the playing field because everybody did? Which I truly believe, it was as common as physical training or designing a specific bike model to get an edge to win. Similar to steroids in bodybuilding in the early years. I don't know. But I do know that his health website - Livestrong at Livestrong.com is one of the most balanced health reference sites I have every found. It promotes alternative while not dishing conventional approaches to health/disease. In summary, I think he did consume banned substances but they all did and it wasn't drugs per se. Secondly, why admit anything? He has lost his titles, money, etc. - but now the charity - Livestrong is in danger - so who benefits? Not the U.S. public, not Lance - but someone does and I don't the someones are good people. I have never given much thought about Armstrong but fleeting admiration for his performance (with or without banned, yet commonly used substances and not illegal substances), I have admired his winning out of cancer, his fortitude, his comeback and mostly his charity which is as about as even handed as can be without the authorities and the AMA blackballing it -- until now. cui bono on this what I would call a wichhunt. |
