Anonymous Coward User ID: 23263980 United States 01/19/2013 09:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The lack of interest on GLP in this major news story is somewhat surprising given that many western hostages are involved. Quoting: The Scientist I think part of the problem is the minimal mainstream news coverage this has received here. It should be a huge news story, but it's been more of a footnote. |

Quoting: The Scientist So a guy with one eye that sells American cigarettes has taken over a refinery.Sorry this is all fake.Did you see the rescued hostages clean shaven and not at all shaken up sipping tea and eating crumpets. This event never happened.More scare tactics to raise prices. |

It's that most "western" people know nothing about those big north African countries except that they are big deserts, and most people could not even imagine any reason for visiting there. Like at least in the Congo you got jungles and tribes with interesting masks, and Mali has their Dogun culture and some of the worlds oldest libraries, etc.... But Algeria has nothing (in our imagination) except a British Petroleum plant, and most people could give a rat's ass about British Petrolium, so long as they are not in their own country, because BP has a reputation to cause environmental damage far beyond that of a few westerners killed who chose to go work at those plants. Maybe that is why most GLPers don't care, not that these issues aren't possibly important in terms of chains of events. Last Edited by ehecatl on 01/19/2013 10:16 AM |

It should be massive news!!! But since it is being made light of in MSM, its reflecting lightly everywhere. |

Dozens of Westerners already killed in retaliation does not help their campaign. |
