Do you doubt that evil exists?
Do you doubt that evil exists?

The existence of Evil

Many of you doubt the existence of God. That word “God” no longer has any power. You belittle it. You discount it. You feel it's a myth to keep the people in line.

That's fine. Believe it or not, I'm not here to proselytize. I cannot make you believe anything. I think it's almost a waste of my time to try. God made Free Will. Because it is written, you have a choice.

Nor would God bend your will, for by breaking this law of Free Will, a law of the Universe that God created, there would be extreme ramifications. It might tear away all Freedom and so make us automatons.

My will cannot bend your will, nor would I desire to do so. In fact, I cannot do what God cannot do since I am one of God's creatures. I cannot override your Free Will.

Some people people believe that good and evil are a matter of perspective. That if I'm in one nation, and then another nation attacks my nation, then I can label such actions as “evil”. By doing so, I often label my nation as “good”. When we do that, we dilute the attributes of good and evil, and then they have no meaning.

Your consciousness is that inner-most aspect that occupies your body, not the mind, but the essence of your Life force. Some of you are not spiritual, and so when I use consciousness synonymous with a soul, then you cringe. That's OK, I'm just giving you a frame of reference.

When you think back, is there anything that you can clearly label good and evil?

Try to let your inner being flow through thoughts. You will think on clear things that are good and evil. If not, then chances are you've been diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder.
[link to medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com]
“antisocial personality disorder,
a condition characterized by repetitive behavioral patterns that are contrary to usual moral and ethical standards and cause a person to experience continuous conflict with society. Symptoms include aggression, callousness, impulsiveness, irresponsibility, hostility, a low frustration level, marked emotional immaturity, and poor judgment. A person who has this disorder overlooks the rights of others, is incapable of loyalty to others or to social values, is unable to experience guilt or to learn from past behaviors, is impervious to punishment, and tends to rationalize his or her behavior or to blame it on others.

In medicine, we can't label things “good” or “evil”, for to do so in Science would be to flirt with Spirituality, and so we label it in comfortable words that remain neutral. And yet, the preponderance of those who commit crimes will have antisocial personality disorder.

A spiritual person would likely say that they do sinful things in such excess that they have chosen a life of evil. They also would likely say that it might be possible to change course, sin less and less, and so chose a life of good.

A psychiatrist would say they developed poor behavior that may or may not be treatable. It depends upon if they wish to change and can learn and apply them.

Both are separate world views, but both sound like something we discussed: Free Will.

Even if you don't believe in God, would you be willing to say that those who commit crimes against others have chosen a path of evil?

Lawlessness
Some philosophers might say that I'm confusing things. When I mention criminals, then I'm really describing those who chose a path of consistently breaking the Law. That laws are made by Humanity and sometimes arbitrary.

That is partially true. Some laws seem capricious. There seems to be no sense to the law. Maybe it was created a long ago. Maybe in certain countries the things that are lawful are not lawful elsewhere. That would tend to mean that “law” is subjective and that there is no Ultimate Law.

What do you believe?

I think most people will say that there are degrees of wrongness in society, and therefore some laws protect the members of society. Some laws are quite minor and other very major transgressions.

Murdering someone is usually considered a major offense and such a transgression against society breaks the Law. It ends their life without cause, and there's no way of achieving Justice even if the perpetrator is executed, it cannot ever bring the victim back. As such, that kind of lawbreaking is usually considered evil.

Rape is the violation of a person's mind, body, and soul. If damages them. The crime cannot ever be unmade. There cannot be Justice done even if the perpetrator is executed, for the victim lives on in shame and guilt. As such, that kind of lawbreaking is usually considered evil.

Would you agree that those crimes (the breaking of those specific laws) are evil?
