If this thing blows up big, all of Europe and parts of Russia, Africa and middle east will be covered in dust clouds for months. Casualties? Too many to count probably, a portion of Italy as we know it will be gone once this thing goes full throttle. |

Vesuvius has erupted many times since and is the only volcano on the European mainland to have erupted within the last hundred years. Today, it is regarded as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world because of the population of 3,000,000 people living nearby and its tendency towards explosive (Plinian) eruptions. It is the most densely populated volcanic region in the world. Read on: [link to en.wikipedia.org] |

Two different systems. they are very close but Campi Flegrei means the end of Italy. Vesuvio erupted in 1946, and an eruption would be dangerous "only" for Naples and near city. |

Local authorities have raised alert level and are currently discussung evacuation plans. And in Italy, at leastr from my experience, local authorities actually getting to work means there must be some really serious shit going on. |
