Juicing recipes/health tips...ideas anyone?
Hope everyone is having a great Friday!

So, I am starting to juice...I always find great little health tips and ideas on GLP.

I was wondering if anyone on here had some recipes or tips they wanted to share!?

I am a vegetarian, I have been for a while. I still eat dairy sometimes, and I try to stay away from gluten as much as possible. I really noticed a significant increase in energy as I cut the gluten down.

I have watched a few documentaries over the last few weeks and really wanted to take my health and wellness to the next level, so I am going to try adding juicing into my diet to help restore some of the micronutrients I'm sure my body is lacking.

Post any great recipes or health tips here!

Some recommended documentaries (some you can find on netflix):

Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead (a MUST watch) - on netflix

Food Matters - I think its still on netflix

Food Inc.

Hungry for Change

I've seen a few recipes with the ginger root :) I am hoping to find a good source in my area or perhaps grow some on my own if I can find a place in my **VERY** small yard.

grow ginger and turmeric root in pots.
turmeric is ready to harvest when leaves die.
just dump the pot out collect roots- replant the "mother" root.

Ohh awesome :) Thanks for the tips! My parents live out in the country and they are starting to juice as well. They have MUCH more room than I do to plant various fruits and veggies (already have some great little orchards going)....I will have to see if they can add this to their list of new produce!

Re: Juicing recipes/health tips...ideas anyone?
mmmmmm!

I just started drinking fresh juices over the past 12 months, and I love it!

I try to drink 2-3 juices per week, but I intend to buy I high quality juicer in the very near future, so I can make and drink at least one fresh juice per day.

Here are some of my favorite combinations that I usually get:

Kale-Spinach-Apple-Cucumber

Beet-Carrot-Kale-Spinach-Parsley

Orange-Carrot-Celery-Cilantro

You can basically add any type of fruit or vegetable, but you need a vegetable with a very high water content as a base, such as cucumber, celery, apple, orange, lemon, lime, etc.

I usually add ginger to every single juice! I love ginger!

So, what type of juicer did you get?
Currently working on:
Bach: Invention No. 1
Joplin: Maple Leaf Rag
Mendelssohn: Tarantella Op.102 no.3
Mendelssohn: Venetian Boat Song Op. 19 no. 6 (both from 'Songs Without Words')

We ordered the Omega J8004 juicer :)

I have been using a blendtec for a while to make smoothies and other healthy drinks, but after watching a few documentaries and reading up on the benefits of the micronutrients in juicing I really had the urge to get on and try a cleanse.

Over the last few years I have been slowly cleaning up my eating habits (I was forced to initally because I was REALLY sick and allergic to so many things). I feel SOOO much better when I eat right, so I wanted to try to supplement with the juice as well! I want to try to make sure to have the greens /ginger/tumeric and I have been reading about the benefits of garlic so I am hoping to find some good recipes that have garlic in them as well.
