Facing wheelchair as well, had triple level lumbar fusion three years ago. I decided to try faith instead of pills they weren't working anymore anyway. I ate oxys like tic tacs, I stopped cold turkey and started reading the bible. I put my faith in God now instead of pills and I find the pain bearable now. Good luck, the pills and the surgeries won't take away your pain.

You should look into disc decompression. Fusion is not the answer. I took the latter route and three surgeries later I am 50% back to where I was. I changed surgeons after the first two failed surgeries. The best thing I ever did actually. You need to find the hot shot back guy if you are going the fusion route. He will be an ass have terrible bedside manners and has a dislike of prescribing pain meds. That's the guy you want if you can find him.

Also after taking Norco for eight years I have a total disdain for the stuff now. The thing about it was the meds make you more sensitive to the pain so more is needed. Get off the stuff and you will notice less pain. That is what happened in my case. Also if you are a man it destroys the bodies ability to produce and maintain testosterone levels. You should also realize this fact too. That was the main reason I quit the pain meds. I still do over the counter stuff to help me sleep but no more pain meds like Norco for me.
