The one major fact behind rising cost is how the energy market is being manipulated. Trucks used to bring almost everything to the door for consumer end product aquisition. Diesel has sky rocketed and that added cost was put on shippers to distributors to the end product distribution point. Gas used to be higher than diesel but not no more. Diesel is more costly even though it is the by-product of cracking gasoline. Here in the states gas is at $3.47.9 and diesel runs about 30 to 50 cent higher per gallon. Canada its a little higher so for a truck to transport finished goods at 7 miles to the gallon when diesel cost $4 bucks or more a gallon, that cost to consumer goes up real quick. Fill a trucks 200 gallon tank at 4 bucks when a few years ago it was more like 2 bucks and you will see. |

In the end it doesn't even matter... |

Their $1 menu is 1/2 the size of McDonald's, so McDonald's drive thru line is backed up and Wendy's is empty Wendy's cut the sizes down of their burgers and chili, so go next door. Will they ever learn? |

There are very few options to small businesses - pay cuts (including the owners themselves), hour cuts, raising prices or laying off employees. In America the cost to comply with EPA burdens and Obamacare has added so much expense, many businesses are closing up shop altogether. It's only going to get worse. You don't ADD costs and taxes in a failing economy unless you really want to sink the free market. |

You don't ADD costs and taxes in a failing economy unless you really want to sink the free market. Conditions for business does really suck more and more every day. Still there is another side to this coin... Raising quality. I look for quality in goods and services now, more than ever. Paying extra for quality is usually worth it in the long run. I'd like to see more mom & pop shops that focus on doing things better than the big-box boys. Everyone has been too brainwashed into thinking less expensive is best. |
