A former Tarleton State University student who wrote the best-selling book, "American Sniper," was one of two victims shot and killed at Rough Creek Lodge late Saturday afternoon.

Chris Kyle and a friend were found dead at Rough Creek's shooting range.

"We have identified a strong suspect," Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant said.

Law enforcement officials throughout the county were searching for a large four-door Ford pickup that is high off the ground and covered in Rhino liner. There is a skull sticker in the back window.

Authorities had not made an arrest as of press time Saturday night.

The suspect is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees a vehicle matching that description is urged to call 911 immediately.

Bryant would not release additional information about the case, but a source working at Rough Creek Lodge confirmed that one of the victims is Kyle.

Kyle is a former Navy SEAL who served four tours of duty in Iraq, where he was given the nickname "The Devil of Ramadi" by insurgents.

Hmm, this is something to think about.

Chris Kyle was at Rough Creek doing a charity event for wounded vets and one of them turned gun on him, killed him and another vet.

GLEN ROSE, Texas -- A former U.S. Navy SEAL who gained recognition during the Iraq War was one of two people fatally shot southwest of Fort Worth on Saturday, KHOU 11 News has learned.
Sources close to the investigation tell KHOU that one of the victims was Chris Kyle, a former Navy SEAL and author of the New York Times bestselling book, "American Sniper."
Kyle was shot point-blank while helping another soldier who is recovering from post traumatic stress syndrome.
A warning was issued for the suspect, who was believed to be driving a black Ford F-350 truck with large tires and rims.
Police have reportedly captured the suspect in Lancaster, south of Dallas. The suspect was believed to be highly trained with military experience
The shooting location is 53 miles southwest of Fort Worth.
"American Sniper" was published last year, and details Kyle's 150-plus kills of insurgents from 1999 to 2009. The book's cover refers to Kyle as "the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history."

Eddie Ray Routh was arrested just before 9 p.m. Saturday in Lancaster.
Investigators would not release additional information about the case or comment on how Routh may have been connected to Kyle.
The name of the second victim has also not been released.
Kyle, 38, was a former Navy SEAL who served four tours of duty in Iraq, where he was given the nickname "The Devil of Ramadi" by insurgents.
In 2008, he made his longest successful shot after he spotted an insurgent with a rocket launcher near a U.S. Army convoy at a range of 2,100 yards (1.2 miles).

Read the "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Luttrell a few years back.

Gave me a whole new respect and admiration for what these guys go through just to be a seal and the obstacles they face in combat (mostly from our own gov't.

Great read if anyone is interested. Dicey language but I would highly recommend this amazing story.

His big bad story about punching ventura was proven beyond any shadow of a doubt to be a big fat lie, and most ex-seals wanted nothing to do with him from what I understand....I always found his hubris to be disturbing to say the least - how many innocent people did he murder? No doubt, he killed many innocent people in a war that was based upon lies and disinformation. That said, I certainly hope God has mercy on his soul and every soul.
