Hey Canadians: What is the WORST thing about living in Canada?

wisc, property taxes vary from place to place, so you can't generalize

booze -- definitely more expensive

tobacco -- depends on the state you're comparing to, and varies from province to province, but yeah a lot more expensive
food is taxed but not if it's groceries -- so some of your purchases at the grocery store will be taxes and others won't be
worst part of canada after the weather is dealing with the government -- but I bet that's the same most places

looking at this again it looks like you're talking about sales taxes -- yeah we only pay 5% sales tax as opposed to 13%

Most people living in Vancouver area travel to the states for 3 things.

Cheese
Meat
Liqueur

Cause our government is greedy and taxes everything. Then we get limited at the border from bringing over these things. 1 26ouze bottle of vodka per 24hr stay. If I could I'd buy the cheaper 60ouze bottles and bring back a trunk full! I'm sure that some do.

The other things that suck are taxes and the government owning everything or monopolizing them. They own all the liqueur stores here....and that's why they are failing.

Bars close later than the skytrain runs on the weekend. WTF So if you live outside vancouver....you gotta leave before they stop running or you better find a place to stay.

To many asians owning all real estate and jacking the prices.
To many asians have underbid all construction jobs. So now construction is shitty and expensive. Congratulations underbidders.....you ruined a good thing by being cheap.

To many Asian restaurants. You can't walk a block without running into dim sum/sushi/pho shops.

The pizza places SUCK here. It's all thin crust no topping dollar pizza. Even Papa Johns has gone down the toilet trying to compete with the thousands of "fresh slice pizza places" which is gross shit.

To many pot heads that think they have the right to Stink up the entire province. Yah it's fun, but keep it in your own house.

Garage sales are a joke in this province. Most shut down by 1:00 p.m. and go to the beach. They NEVER sell anthing good and when they do they want more than store prices for it....you know, to make up for how much they where taxed on it.

It rains a lot. But not like a rain that gets it all out in a hurry....It lingers on for 6 months in a slow depressing drizzle. Never an exciting flash flood or with a little hail.

Most drivers suck! and insurance is controlled by the province...Thus, high prices due to NO competition.

The government regulates JOBS! By making it so most employees have to take useless courses in order to even get a job.

The radio stations ALL SUCK DONKEY BALLS! No decent rock, No decent pop, No country, Just cookie cutter top 10 stations that have VERY unfunny DJ personalities who seem to all be imported from other stations. No INDY stations at all. Even the Talk news stations are garbage!

The government has NO clue what they are doing at all. They are actively trying to get rid of the one business that brings in billions....The movie business! And an oil pipeline!

Now for something nice to say!

The mountains are nice, the ocean is ok, The air is clean.
Festivals up the waahoo! Events all the time! Lots of very friendly people! Lots of different food choices from asia!

What the heck are you talking about Alberta is debt free? Seriously? When Ed came in he opened up the taps and let the cash flow man. Don't believe everything coming out of the Premiers office, that lady is a snake in the grass. The public sector has grown into a huge expense in this province. They've spent everything they have minus the heritage trust fund and they're still running a deficit ... they can't even balance their operating budget for peetsake!. We're talking about the one of THE RICHEST PROVINCES IN CANADA. Most of the infastructure spending you are seeing in the province right now is the build it now and pay for it later type things you expect from a government with no plan. Pay attention to the money and then you'll understand why some people are pissy.

It's a shame that I have to put the bike away for 5 months out of the year. Insurance sucks but it is what it is and if you're a good boy your rates are reasonable. I admire my friends and family who choose to live in the USA but it's not for me. Born and raise in Alberta ... dude, it's home.
