Basics like beans and rice every time you go to the store. Figure out 7 of your favorite meals that use the least number of ingredients. Calculate everything to make it including the water. Multiply each item x52 and make up a shop list. Watch for sales, as you buy deduct from your shop list. You will serve this dish once a week. Do the same for other 6 meals. Before you know it you will have 1 year supply of food. If that sounds like a lot, you can figure instead of x52, x4 for a 1 month supply....or x12 for a 3 month supply. Sounds expensive but a pound of spaghetti and one can of sauce for a whole year when on sale at about $1 is $104, and I bet you spend more than that on a night out. 2- water. Same as above, you need at least 1 gallon water per person per day for drinking only (does not include washing up, cleaning dishes etc). I found if I get one 55 gal water drum per month, fill it, store it, I can keep up without too much hassle. 3-fuels...what do you use for light, heat, cooking.if you have a power out, what could you use. I collect wood every time I come across some. People who want a tree cleared off from their property, downed trees after a storm...etc. then propane is great because you can attach it to all kinds of things. I buy 1 propane tank per month. Meantime collect other stuff like bedding, towels, blankets either Round your house or from thrift stores. Rule of 3 ...always have 3 options for cooking, heating, obtaining water, storage of food, bug out/in locations, transportation. Start small, keep organized, and just keep building on....let us know how you do. |

I can sleep comfortably in it if need be. As a renter what will happen if we run into hyperinflation? They're not going to take a loss on rentals. They'll shut em all down I'm afraid. Another reason to rent is the proposed gun laws. Take a look at what has been introduced in CA, NJ and MN. Your state maybe next. No matter where you live security and protection come first. No sense stockpiling food if u can't protect it. The biggest tip I can offer: Don't keep all yer eggs in one basket. Why allow a storm, fire or a person to take it all from you? Get some of it buried. |
