Anonymous Coward User ID: 31000340 United States 02/12/2013 08:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The asteroid, 2012 DA14, which was detected in February last year by La Sagra Observatory in southern Spain, is predicted to reach its nearest point to the Earth at around 7.30pm UK time on Friday. Quoting: Children of the Atom i read that the guy who discovered the asteroid is a dentist, how come a dentist in spain found this astroid and not Nasa ?? i think thats really odd it does not make sense anywhere to cite that from? That is a bit bizarre. The official discovery announcement from the company which provided the grant for the telescope says nothing about dentists? [link to www.lasagraskysurvey.org] [link to www.planetary.org] The strategy paid off. With the new CCD telescope camera configured to shoot rapid, short exposures, Nomen and his colleagues captured 2012 DA14 as it moved across the sky at almost 11 arcseconds per minute. This is slower than a satellite but quite fast for a NEO. It's equivalent to a lunar diameter every three hours. The asteroid was already heading away from Earth after passing the planet about a week before, and at much greater distance than next year's encounter. Its path across the eastern sky, fast angular motion, quite faint (and fading) brightness, and high declination (far above the ecliptic plane in which most of the planets travel) could easily have allowed 2012 DA14 to escape undetected. [link to www.planetary.org] Jaime Nomen represents the La Sagra Observatory (J75) and the La Sagra Sky Survey (LSSS) on the Spanish island of Mallorca. The LSSS is the most prolific European near-Earth object survey of all time. Only the three major NASA-funded surveys (Catalina, LINEAR, and Spacewatch) and the now-defunct WISE space mission score more discoveries than LSSS does. Looks like a pretty laid back dude, tho' |

Nasa didn't say anything about it. It was someone in Spain. Either they are useless at detecting or they were trying to keep it hidden. Doesn't look good either way. On a different psychic site I read that technology will be knocked off the grid for awhile and we should prepare by stocking up on food and water. Do you see this happening? If so, When? A-I still see March of this year, this is when we are going to notice technology not being reliable. I do not see it as being completely wiped off, I just see it as being inconsistent.
