According to The Old Testament, The 2nd set of Tablets Was Polluted
I'm atheist, but very well versed in biblical writings.

Exodus 20:25
And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

Exodus 34:1

And the LORD said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest.

Note: This lifting of a tool to a stone and thereby polluting it applies to any stone used for god's purposes. Just ask any Jew or research it for yourself.

How do the Jews explain this away? With some admittedly (admitted by Jews that is) mythical worm carried around in the beak of a mythical bird. The so called Shamir worm.

This same Shamir worm was supposed to have cut out all the stones on the robes of the priests and even more questionable, supposedly cut all the stones of Solomon's temple. Solomon had to enlist the help of a king of demons to obtain the worm. Imagine that, Solomon having to rely on a king of demons (Asmodeus) for help to build the temple.

So now fast forward a bit and this Shamir worm is long gone ages ago. Disappeared. No one knows what happened to this mythical worm. So how do the Jews intend to rebuild the temple? They CANNOT use tools to cut the stones.

Quite the predicament.

Read the whole thing. Anything made of stone for god's purposes has the same restriction. Research don't just make a simple assumption.

OP, I believe the AC is correct:

Exd 20:22 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

Exd 20:23 Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.

Exd 20:24 An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.

Exd 20:25 And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

Exd 20:26 Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.

Verse 25 applies only to His alter, no mention of tablets when read in context.

Thus, in the Testament of Solomon, Asmodeus is connected on the one hand with the Asmodeus of Tobit, and possesses on the other many points of contact with the Ashmedai of rabbinical literature, especially in his relation to Solomon and the building of the Temple. The Haggadah relates that Solomon, when erecting the Temple, did not know how to get the blocks of marble into shape, since, according to the law (Ex. xx. 26), they might not be worked by an iron tool. The wise men advised him to obtain the "shamir" (), a worm whose mere touch could cleave rocks. But to obtain it was no slight task; for not even the demons, who knew so many secrets, knew where the shamir was to be found. They surmised, however, that Ashmedai, king of the demons, was in possession of the secret, and they told Solomon the name of the mountain on which Ashmedai dwelt and described his manner of life. On this mountain there was a well-head from which the arch-demon obtained his drinking-water.

You need to educate yourself a LOT more before you can decide a thread is killed on such meager findings. There is a lot more to Jewish law and tradition than the old Testament, but the premise behind the forbidding of use of tools on stones used for gods' purposes are that what god created is perfect and if man alters it with a tool it is polluted. Also tools of iron are tools of war, and stones used to build alters or temples are stones used for peace. As are the stones used for the priest's robes. Ask Any knowledgeable Jew or Rabbi.

Reading comprehension is required here. The discussion centers on the option of an altar being built of stone. If they decide to use stone, they cannot hew the stone. If they hew it they pollute it. This applies to all stone cutting for god's purposes. The operative word is 'hewn' (or chiseled), which is forbidden by god.

Perhaps God was trying to put the point across that what he had just created (the law) is not perfect, so there is no need of perfect stone to record it on.

n the Gemara the shamir (Hebrew: שמיר‎) is a mythical worm or a substance that had the power to cut through or disintegrate stone, iron and diamond and in the myth King Solomon used it in the building of the First Temple in Jerusalem in the place of cutting tools. For the building of the Temple, which promoted peace, it was inappropriate to use tools that could also cause war and bloodshed.[1]

Referenced throughout the Talmud and the Midrashim, the Shamir was reputed to have existed in the time of Moses. Moses reputedly used the Shamir to carve the Hoshen (Priestly breastplate) into the tablets of stone.[2] King Solomon, aware of the existence of the Shamir, but unaware of its location, commissioned a search that turned up a "grain of Shamir the size of a barley-corn."

Solomon's artisans reputedly used the Shamir in the construction of Solomon's Temple. The material to be worked, whether stone, wood or metal, was affected by being "shown to the Shamir." Following this line of logic (anything that can be 'shown' something must have eyes to see), early Rabbinical scholars described the Shamir almost as a living being. Other early sources, however, describe it as a green stone. For storage, the Shamir was meant to have been always wrapped in wool and stored in a container made of lead; any other vessel would burst and disintegrate under the Shamir's gaze. The Shamir was said to have been either lost or had lost its potency (along with the "dripping of the honeycomb") by the time of the destruction of the First Temple at the hands of Nebuchadnezzar in 586 B.C

It's not like God requires a stone temple in Jerusalem anyway. Who cares if they build it or how they build it, what difference will it make?

That's already been done. Daniel gave the prophecy, King Cyrus of Persia issued the decree to build it, it was built, and torn down in 70AD.

That prophecy is finished. You're making the mistake almost everybody does. You're mixing old testament prophecy about things that already have come to pass with Revelation, things that have not. Those two prophecies are separated by 2500 years so far and counting. They are not talking about the same event so don't mix the two. Daniel is Daniel, Revelation is Revelation, they are not the same and they are not prophecies related to the same event.

The 70th week of Daniel has not been fulfilled. Israel has not been gathered to Jerusalem. Ask any Rabbi or read this:
Daniel's 70th Week, The End Times (Endtimes) Seventieth Week

Deuteronomy 28:64a

God’s word also promised a day of gathering, when the Jewish people would be gathered back into the land of promise. In order for the 70th week to take place, Daniel’s people the Jews need to be in Jerusalem. Gabriel, informed Daniel that the 490-year period was determined on his people and his city. There are still seven-years to be completed. They will be completed after Israel is in the land.

The gathering of dispersed Israel, is a consistent theme in the Old Testament. Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Amos, Micah and Zechariah all wrote about a future day when Israel would be gathered.

20 Reasons Why The 70th Week Of Daniel Has Not Been Fulfilled

Also, try to stay on topic. Seems practically no one on GLP knows how to do that. Always going off on tangents and not addressing the issue. The issue is that tools CANNOT be used to hew or chisel stones used for god's purposes.

So I'm saying the Jews have painted themselves into a corner with that restriction. Research the Shamir worm and what it was used to do. Now that worm no longer exists...

Thank God that the "LAW" (given by Moses) will never save your soul! The "LAW" will never bend down to you in your sin and pick you up out of the fire inside...... Only the "GRACE" of Almighty God will do that...... :)

John 1:17
"For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ."

The "LAW" was only showing us how imperfect we really are in reguards to living by that "LAW". I guess that's why Jesus stated this to the woman caught in "ADULTERY" (a law breaking sin fyi)......

John 8: 1-18
1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.

2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.

14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.

15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.

17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.

18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.

So we clearly see that Jesus's did not condemn this poor sinning woman but lifted her up into his love, and sent her away with new eyes and heart. The "LAW" was ready to stone her to death.......... hmmmmmmmmmmm. I guess Jesus really is the WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE "LIFE"..........

Grace is shown in every one of Jesus's parables as well (1 lost sheep, prodigal son, woman who lost her coin, etc etc)... does that make the law of moses worth nothing? Nope, it's just wrote on our hearts now by the holy spirit of God Almighty, through his son Jesus Christ.

John 6:32
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven

I hope you change your mind soon about what your "heart" is really telling you. Time is running out.

The rambam's opinion was that the restriction was on hewing stone within the temple area. Stone hewn outside the area and brought in was fine.

What about the priest's breastplates? They had the names of the tribes inscribed as well. Had to be done without tools..,

Again the mythical Shamir worm. That thing was supposedly the size of a grain of barley, was carried around in the beak of a mythical bird on a wool cloth covered by lead...I mean come on now...

The stones, on which the laws were written, were NOT an alter. Neither are the stones for the temple.

Re: According to The Old Testament, The 2nd set of Tablets Was Polluted
The Shamir was not a worm, but a radioactive isotope which melted rock. (The "worm" interpretation was a later Rabbinic explanation.) It has since decayed into an inactive state.

see [link to www.varchive.org]

The information found in ancient sources—that Shamir was a greenish mineral, that it was as large as a barley-corn; that it could damage anything, even metals and other minerals, save lead, and the only protection could be found by placing Shamir in a leaden box; that it had a “glance” which disintegrated things without leaving filings or dust; that it became inactive after a period of four hundred years—all reveal the true nature of Shamir.

My two cents op...

The Ten Commandments represent God's Word / DNA (A.C.G.T.).

Our original DNA (Ten Commandments) were perfect until something happened.

The act of a mortal 'hewning stone' is representative of our DNA becoming corrupted... by the hands of mortal beings.

In other words, I believe that this story is telling us that our DNA became corrupt long ago because it was tampered with (I.E. Humans were Genetically Engineered).

Talks of 'Rebuilding the Temple' is all about re-engineering the Human body... yet again.

Do your research before posting....It's not that simple as you are thinking. The subject is not the altar, it is hewing stone for god's purposes...

Tell that to the Jews. They're the ones who are in the predicament. Maybe they'll believe this theory.

Well if you noted my preface, I'm atheist( with leanings in belief more toward the manipulation of early hominids by ET's). What I'm presenting with this thread is the predicament that the Jews have found themselves in with what I consider all to be simply myths and stories. Hope this helps clarify the reason for the thread. I thought it was pretty clear in the original post of people would take the time to digest what was presented - first word to last.

The Jews are wondering how they'll accomplish rebuilding the temple without the Shamir worm since they acknowledge they are not to use tools made of metal. Maybe they'll use diamond blades (although that's still metal holding the diamond particles). Quite the predicament as I stated.

I forgot the real point of the thread is that the Jews and Xtians have been following commandments written on tablets that have in effect been polluted and by extension that the commandments are thereby possibly polluted as well. I think the Jews somewhere realized this and concocted the story or myth of the Shamir worm to explain that the tablets were not hewn.

Exodus 34:4

Exodus 34:4-10

King James Version (KJV)

4 And he (Moses) hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.

In Deuteronomy 10, Moses tells the people:

"At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of."

He doesn't say "the Lord said unto me fetch the Shamir worm and set his gaze to hew new tablets....

No he says hew THEE. Too many inconsistencies so I think the Jews as I said have painted themselves into a corner with this whole idea.

Daniel 2:34
Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

What if this person rebuilds the temple?

Is this what they are waiting for?
