Where I live, people who own a house and rent it to others will be obliged by 2015 to isolate their houses to a certain value. If they do not agree, the house CAN NOT be rented until upgrades have been made. The house will even be declared as non sustainable.

People could not afford the high standards required by the city so they sold up. As property values tumbled, it became more costly to maintain a property rented than to tear it down and the cost to renovate was well in excess of its asset value.

So, millions ended up on the street as all the houses were torn down.

When will Government learn. A place with creaking vloor boards and living room with wallpaper from the 1980's is ALWAYS better than a cardboard box in the street.

NEW YORK — New York City has a designer for its first micro-unit apartment building.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Tuesday a development team won the design competition for the pilot program.

It'll design and construct a 55-micro-unit building, "My Micro NY," on city-owned property on West 27th Street in Manhattan. The units will be between 250 and 370 square feet — about the size of a one-car garage.

Forty-to-50 percent will be reserved for low- and middle-income New Yorkers.

The announcement was made at the Museum of the City of New York. An exhibition opening at the museum Wednesday features a 325-square-foot model of a fully-furnished studio. It also features the designs of the city's winner and four finalists.

The team consists of Monadnock Development LLC, Actors Fund Housing Development Corporation and nARCHITECTS.

And accessorized with a cam / listening device for everyroom.

To those of you that might question how they could even attempt to enforce any "regulations" that might come of this, might I remind you that most of us do not "own" our homes. The banks do for the most part, and my guess is that there are clauses regarding general upkeep and maintenance within your loan agreements, as well as Lender recourse if some form of undefined "negligence" were identified and proven. Additionally, given that most SF home mortgages are owned in a large-part by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, which are essentially government entities today, my guess is that they could have all sorts of fun enforcing/coercing just about anything they come up with.

Think about this also, I heard at any time these banks or foriegn countries that own these loans can say - pay in full now (because of our debtness and dollar's worth) I'm not an expert in finances, but anything can happen to Americans because we are very vunerable right now with our economy as it is.

Couple that with millions of property titles destroyed my MERS and you can begin to see property rights being abolished. Government regulated housing for the 99.99% income class means green homes for us, means more exponentially increasing debt for wall street banksters, means Agenda 21 compliance, etc.

i used to work in real estate.
there are sooooooo many rules and regs, inspections, repairs,
laws already in place just to sell, or even rent a house or apt. we don't need anymore.
if there ARE more expences to buying or selling a home,
it will be cheaper just to "abandon" properties in some areas.
and we will end up just like the abandoned, decrepit city of detroit.

As a former, local building inspector, I've warned about this for years. First, all of the regionalized code agencies were systematically amalgamated into the "International Code Council." Ironically, the only thing "international" about it was the influence the UN & Agenda 21 would incrementally have on the codes; And the incremental authority these would have THROUGH the codes. Then, you saw segments of the codes experience a metamorphosis, such as the International Energy Code. Although plumbing and electrical remain so far independent, the ICC has coverage for each of those fields as well. I'm guessing any sovereign independence these codes still enjoy will soon disappear. I can't speak for the NFP (fire codes and regulations), but those shouldn't be ignored either. And finally, you have the telecommunications industries governed by the FCC, whose subordinate state agencies merely fall in lock step. I'll mention Smartmeters, because they will be the tattletales on your home, which do NOT carry a UL listing and are deemed safe by federal standards. And because the utilities are immune to any local, state, or national electrical codes (at least here in NH), all you can do is smile and swallow your pill. You are no longer safe in what you THOUGHT was private property, and you can bid another amendment to the Bill of Rights farewell.

If someone who lives off the govt. can't keep their home clean or don't report slumloards can go to the FEMA camps for all I care.....just don't send their asses to the rural areas where most people there care for their neighbors and their home and property.

We've been told for generations what "healthy housing" is.

Fire codes, water codes, safety codes are nothing new to us.

Healthy housing is a must in a society that so freely sues.

what about a healthy (non corrupted) gov't, do we have a right to that ?

First they tax the shit out of it.

second they make you comply to the registration of it all. costing "YOU" all your money to keep something you have worked your whole life for.
