It's all a joke. A cruel, sick, ironic joke. The 'money' does not exist, never existed, just numbers on a computer screen. Yet it holds so much power and influence. If I was an alien from another planet I would be looking down at earth right now thinking how primitive human beings are.

Re: IMPLOSION ALERT: Fed Has Bought More Gov't Debt This Year Than Gov't Has Issued
[link to cnsnews.com]

(CNSNews.com) - So far this calendar year, the Federal Reserve has bought up more U.S. government debt than the U.S. Treasury has issued.

On Dec. 31, the total debt of the U.S. government was $16.4327 trillion and then-Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner announced that the government had hit what was then the legal debt limit. Last week, however, Congress enacted a law to suspend the federal government debt limit until May 18, 2013, and allow the administration to resume increasing the debt.

By the close of business on Wednesday, Feb. 6, according to the U.S. Treasury, the total federal debt had climbed to $16.4799 trillion—an increase of $47.2 billon for the calendar year.

At the close of business on Jan. 2, the Federal Reserve had owned $1.661 trillion in U.S. Treasury securities. By the close of business on Feb. 6, it owned $1.7172 trillion—an increase of $51.1 billion for the calendar year.

Thus, the Federal Reserve’s purchases of U.S. government debt in this calendar year have exceeded the Treasury’s net debt issues by about $3.9 billion.

Also last week, the Federal Reserve announced that it “will continue purchasing additional … longer-term Treasury securities at a pace of $45 billion per month.”

If the Fed continues to purchase $45 billion in additional federal debt each month in 2013 it will buy up another $540 billion in federal debt this year alone...

No country in the history of mankind has ever done this and not experienced some sort of collapse.

The ancient Roman Empire comes to mind as an excellent example. They also had an over extended military paid with and increasingly worthless currency and a central governmental control structure that was completely corrupt and dethatched from its incompatibly multicultural citizens.

Yes, I thought about that myself. I often wonder how America would come out of it, would we get back on board the constitution 'what made us great in the 1st place?'

Somehow I don't thinks so this time around, we have way to many stupid people who have no clue.

You proceed from a false assumption.

The entire purpose of the United States of America is to concentrate wealth to the point where it can be destroyed in one swift motion.

It is not make believe, it is federal in its mandate, and its reserves are the funding given through taxes and interest.

It is not wise to make such wild accusations and statements that are contrary to the good of all.

Leave it be.

The U.S is currently for sale to the highest bidder

China owns a good 1.5 Trillion of U.S debt and Japan another 1.5 Trillion and looking to buy more

that means that China and Japan will own prime capital markets shoving the U.S to the side

But what will make it all the more interesting is not IF but when the collapse will hit

Not to mention if China and Japan go to war

It will be pure doom

Don't think the little guys will get away with repaying debts with hyperinflated dollars. I'm sure TPTB will inflation-adjust all debt owed to them and the banks.

Remember, they make (and break) the rules themselves.

We should just try and get as many assets over here from around the world and then let China think they'll be the new world reserve w/ a debt based gold standard. Then, screw the bankers and China over and start issuing public money backed by all of our national assets while China shackles itself w/ a debt system pinned to a metal. That could work.

Collapse of the dollar = collapse of all fiat currencies world wide.

Once that is accomplished we will be saved by a new global currency.

Re: IMPLOSION ALERT: Fed Has Bought More Gov't Debt This Year Than Gov't Has Issued
I don't get the gold standard. Why limit your growth artificially like that, especially in an economy where so many need a job and where we have so many tools for small businesses to be created these days. And small businesses create most of the jobs, so there you go. And as far as inflation... is that really an issue as long as the new supply of money creates equal demand via goods and services and people buying them? And it's not like the Fed has done a good job with inflation anyway. See this:

[link to dailybail.com]

One might theorize that the booms and busts are in fact part of the plan to slowly gobble up the economy. Let people build things... take them. Build more.... repo. Repeat forever. Is it really working? No. Why create money as debt and why tie the money supply to a rock that's predominantly elite controlled and whose supply doesn't necessarily grow with the size of an economy anyway? Issue public money. Put in annual limits tied in some fashion to gdp. And perhaps even divide up the money power among all 50 states based on population or something so as to not give all printing power just to the federal govt. I don't know the exact answer, but I think this will allow us to make money servant of humanity instead of the other way around without giving too much power to any one governing body. I sense some good financial minds on this thread.... any thoughts?

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34049567

"Saved"? But who will have the power to print this new global currency? People talk about how we shouldn't "print our way out" of a crisis. But how do you create jobs then? You can incentivize existing capital to be invested for sure. But part of the solution might be to print some money and invest in businesses, right?

The problem is that the money is debt and our debt burden is so huge and nobody will write any of it off. So printing becomes tougher and tougher. But if it wasn't, then printing money wouldn't be such a big deal. Inflation only happens when the new supply for the bills doesn't meet the money you've injected into the economy. Sometimes you need to print your way out of a crisis cause you need to create jobs for people so they can eat. But if we're dependent on a world body for this, we'll be out of luck and it will be like in the EU where some nations are forced immediately into austerity and to have their assets "privatized" by the banker mafia.

Socialism is one thing but why do all these socialized countries continue to issue debt based money? That defeats the purpose of socialism. You just end up slowly siphoning wealth to the bankers instead of re-circulating it amongst the people. That's one of Europe's biggest problems. They tried a leftist society w/ a debt system and gave up their power to print money to help them avoid the austerity and asset stripping that results.

Re: IMPLOSION ALERT: Fed Has Bought More Gov't Debt This Year Than Gov't Has Issued
And as far as fiat currencies go... they are not backed by nothing, but by the assets of the country issuing them, including gold and silver, I suppose. People are free to effectively back their own wealth in any way they choose, and can buy stores of value like metals and land (like the elite do). In this sense, fiat currencies are hard currencies and people can "back" their own wealth in fiat money with whatever they want by buying hard assets. Even if they don't the money supply is backed by the hard assets of the country. During the gold standard, the notes said redeemable for gold... but you can still buy gold and silver and anything else with any currency. And in fact, the prices of gold and silver have been purposely depressed in the last few decades, so you got a better value anyway. I like freedom and believe in economic growth. I think public money funding lots of new businesses is the way to go. You can divide the money printing power up between state/federal govt.s for separation of powers and pin the total printing capability to a percentage of the previous year's gdp and that should be fine. Inflation will be contained by simply being smart about what gets funded and quickly getting any businesses that fail through bankruptcy so their assets get used one way or another. It won't be perfect, but the inflation record will probably be better than what we've had under the Fed:
