Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30938598 The pledge is suppose to represent the beliefs of all the people. How could one like myself, who adamantly disbelieves, take part in expressing their patriotism without feeling like a total hypocrite. No its not. Our nation was founded by Christians whose beliefs and prayers made this nation strong and you've enjoyed the bountiful goodness because of that. You don't deserve it though and because more are now like you the goodness given us is going away, in a big way. Thanks a lot heathen. |

If you're a Christian, you ARE aware of the 9th commandment..."thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor"? Do you realize in your ignorance of the history of this country that's exactly what you've done in your response? Please, please quit believing preachers and so called religious historians and taking everything they say about American History and the founding of this country as gospel truth. The preachers and religious historians are only after your money and prey on the ignorant. If you don't care about breaking the 9th commandment, at least care about researching the facts and perhaps not making yourself look like a total idiot to those who know the subject of American history. |

Sharpton has proven time and again to be an enemy of America The only fucking reason the majority of the people here are so anti-commie isn't because socialism is bad you know. Just like reefer madness, the anti-socialism attitude is all left over from the propaganda of the cold war. Socialism may or may not work as an economic means and has been used by dictators in history yet less then 10% of those out there have a clue what the hell they are talking about. Just a bunch of confused people screaming Obama is a Marxist Kenyan riding dirty on us. While the media and the rest reinforce how bad socialism all because your government told you so 40 years ago. We still have a plant that cures fucking cancer illegal because a group of wealthy men didn't want competition to paper and synthetics and this was almost 100 fucking years ago. Anyone who thinks American propaganda doesn't exist is a fucking clown when you realize just how indoctrinated the majority of Americans are. (including a LOT of people on this site who consider themselves "Awake.") The fact that MOST Americans don't know what a republic is, or that it's the type of government we have, WHEN THEY SAID IT EVERYDAY IN SCHOOL.....well it should really clue you in a little on just how much of a damn most people REALLY care about the pledge. For most "under god" is the most important part. As if to not say it is an act of disrespecting your god and "how dare they?" Honestly, it's the most hypercritical and ignorant position a Christian or an American can take. |

If you invented something, or created a business that took off and got hella rich from it.,kudos for you, you thought of something no one else did. Socialists will take 3/4 of your wealth and give it to people who ("don't want to try in life.") So why bother... What you end up with is a Country full of people living in cardboard boxes waiting for their government Rationed Cheese...No Thanx! I'm not saying communism is good or doesn't do any of those things. But since I didn't come out like a raging bull screaming my head off about how evil socialism is..BOOM...you think I must be a commie who loves all the socialism has to offer. The reality is America's strength came from honest hard working people and SIMPLE capitalism. I believe technology and the hiding of responsibility via incorporation has led America down a "me, me, me, me" mentality for so long we have lost all our values. We allowed corporate law (which is real, a CEO is responsible by law to look out for the best interest of the corperation.) to get so out of control and special interest lobbying to become so powerful that the working man is being crushed under the clear winners of capitalism. As the system is currently designed we have serious problems in this country that will not be fixed by anyone simply "taking responsibility for them-self." We need to look at the macroeconomic side of this that in one decade an entire nation went from a collective share of 75% of the wealth to 50% of the wealth. (via the top 1% wealth accumulation increasing 25% in 10 years) If we can't step back and really understand the impact of this statistic we are doomed to decades of poverty and crime which will breed more poverty in an almost never ending cycle. And it has nothing to do with people not wanting to work. 50% of all graduates are unemployed right now. The majority of the wealth is so congregated and stuck at the top the entire economy stalls out do to lack of consumption in our entirely consumer based economy. Problem is by even mentioning the accumulation of wealth being a problem you instantly will account everything I say to socialism and therefor I am wrong. So how can we have a constructive conversation? We are interested in coming up with a solution? Or was this an argument from the start? What is even sadder is that these problems could easily be fixed if our representatives weren't bought out by lobbyist from pretty much any of the fortune500 companies out there. Here is something to ponder. When you spend 100 dollars and a local store, on avg, 75 dollars will go back to your country. Go to walmart and only 13 dollars stays here. Then combine that with the fact that intentionally pay their employees enough to HAVE to go on social programs. On average it is about 250k tax dollars PER STORE to subsidize a livable wage since their employers refuse to do so. Then tie in that they are the largest employer of low wage workers with a list just like and it should be no shock at all why we are in this mess. Now I do not agree with a min wage increase. Min wage should be there for those under 30 trying to work towards an education. But laws limiting the % of CEO pay to worker pay (americans should vote on size of corporation before this takes place, this is not for ma and pa shops or anything) would force all large companies to pay fair wages. This would work because man is greedy and will always want more and is willing to do what it takes. If I want to give myself a raise, it means I have to raise the pay of my lowest paid workers. It would force a company to grow as a whole and stop it from sucking the economic life out of our country. I wont try and say that there is no socialistic undertone to that idea. There is some there. But to deny it simply for that word is irresponsible of all of us. Maybe it isn't perfect but like I said, we need to come up with a solution and I'm not really excited over the idea of just treading water hoping the markets stay above the magical 14k until it drops and we go into a depression where we watch our neighbors go hungry because we don't even have the American spirit to take care of our own. |

If making the pledge a truthful representation of what really exists is your goal, taking out or leaving in "under God" is the least of your worries. |
