what i do now, because lately, FF is sucking balls big time, is i go to Help, then I hit 'restart with add ons disabled', go through the steps to restart as said, check the stuff that was slow in that safe mode, like youtube, scrolling on GLP, etc, then exit it, then just restart as normal, and that seems to sort things, for a while at least.

Maybe consider some of the customized variants:

[link to www.waterfoxproject.org]

I tried PaleMoon first, then realized I was running 64bit win 7 and have gone with Waterfox ever since.

Same stuff as Firefox, but faster and without all the compatability junk.
