huggyluv Congrats to you Auntie. Sounds like he's off to a healthy start. When do you get to see him? Give him a snuggle for me and if you can get away with it, a little kiss on his head and tiny little hands. Nothing better than a sweet new baby boy. You lucky thing you!

He is in Michigan so I am not sure when I will see him. I am sure it will be before the end of the year, I am just not sure when yet. There is so much going on this year I don't know if I will make a visit there, but I know she will be down either at Christmas or before.

Thanks guys...Flava you are right a colon is a colon. She is seriously watching her foods and trying to keep a food diary to see what her triggers may be.

The Doctor appointment is next Thursday - she had the date wrong. Poor kid is a nervous wreck. Guess we will tough it over for another week. The good news is the pathology report on the tissue should be back by then.
 Quoting: Southern OR

Probably a big part of what she's going through. Thanks for letting us know about the appt. Thought about her all day yesterday.Hoping the Dr. will reassure her.
 Quoting: Nine's

Yes, she is prone to anxiety and panic attacks so the waiting is hard for her. I'm looking on the upside, the pathology report should be back for her appointment with the Gastro doc.
 Quoting: Southern OR

What can the pathology report show, or not show? The last I knew, there was no know defininitive test to prove or disprove UC. Can they now tell for sure whether it is or isn't? Maybe they can tell if it was mucosal tissue from an inflammation?

Maybe you could reassure her by telling her they might be able to tell what they need from the pathology report and a CT scan of the small intestine so she wouldn't feel so worried about the colonoscopy. Does she know she can refuse anything she feels strongly about? Wondering if she knows she's in control, if it would help her relax.

Sure would help her if she could relax some but that's easier said than done, isn't it? Bet it makes you edgy knowing how she's feeling. My heart goes out to both of you.

We are hoping the pathology could show where the tissue was coming from, colon or large intestine. And, presence of cancer cells or lack of. Not that we are letting our minds go there but it is always rumbling around the back of the brain.

I think it will help with the reasons to follow through and do the colonoscopy. She keeps saying "that's an exit - not an entrance". Good thing she has a bit of humor over the situation.

The good news is it has her paying attention to how she eats. She had a terrible diet. Lived on pizza, cheeseburgers, sushi, and quesadillas. That's what made us suspicious of dairy - the kid eats enough cheese for 3 people!

Re: Coffee Klatch
Well ladies I got thru it!

All day Saturday looking at wedding venues and then all day sunday looking at wedding dresses.

Holy crap thank god its Monday. She found a dress that she loves so we bought it, I am not a fan but I kept my mouth shut and that was REALLY hard!

It is one of those mermaid dresses, that's what they call them and that is the new style. To me its an evening gown with a train. My brain says that the traditional ballroom type gown is a wedding gown. Its probably the only time in your life you can wear one and the type she bought is just like I said a white evening gown that could be dyed and worn to a fancy event. Not my idea of a wedding dress. I had tears in my eyes and my girls mistook them for tears of joy and like I said I kept my mouth shut. I vowed to let her do the picking and keep my opinion out of it unless it was a huge blunder and I have been sticking to that decision however hard it may be, and it IS hard!

My neice was miserable because her mom insisted on this and that right up until she walked down the aisle and made her miserable. When we arrived at the wedding she ran up to the car before I even got out and said "Thank god your here, what took you so long, you have to go deal with my mom, she's ruining my wedding, your the only one who can talk sense into her". She was so upset and I don't want to do that to my kid.

We also found bridesmaid gowns that are very nice and will fit and look flattering on all of the girls and we have a wide variety of figures to deal with but this dress flatters even the heavier girls so I am very happy about that, and so are they cause they were only 129.00, which is inexpensive compared to some that were up to 400.00

It is not fancy so it could be worn out to a formal affair, they are evening gowns, or even cut off and still worn as a work dress or pretty much anything but its not a casual dress.

They made me try on dresses and I found two that looked good but the one I love is silver, looks great on and looks white in pictures so I don't think I will get it although she said its ok to get that one but I don't want to show up white in pics, its her day so I will keep looking, its not like I don't have tons of time to find something. I wish it came in other colors but it didn't.

I got home, took a bath and had a good nights sleep. I feel so much better today!

Sounds like a super busy weekend, Flava. Any decisions on the venue? I'm glad she found a dress she loves. I've been in the tongue biting stage for so many months now it's amazing I can still talk!

That's a pretty good price on the bridesmaid dresses. So glad it works for all types of bodies.

I'm sure you will find a great dress for yourself. Too bad the one you like doesn't come in other colors. Could it be died a bit darker so it doesn't photograph as white?

A hot bath and a good night sleep was just what you needed after a "Wedding Planning Weekend". :)

Oh and I had a good one too. We are narrowed down to two at this point.

Of course the one I love and the one she loves. She is being a little blind sided when it comes to things.

She loves the circle room and sees nothing else. I see all and I see big convention center vs hotel is a big mistake.

The staff at the hotel were much more comforting than the large hotel/convention cntr and seemed to actually care what we wanted. I think she would be ok with peanut butter on saltines if it was served in the circle room!

I don't do all that hashtag shit but #pissedoffmom, #narrowmindedkid

Went with the youngest to the Gastro Doc today. Her anxiety was really high. They scheduled her for a colonoscopy on June 2nd. Things were going ok till they asked if she had an Advance Directive on file at the hospital. That did her in. She was crying, shaking, laughing, and saying "fuck, fuck, fuck" so quickly it sounded as if she was quacking like a duck. Poor kid was seriously looking like a crazy person. I understand why they want these on file - anytime you have anesthesia there is a risk. I guess this is a new Obamacare thing. I got her calmed down and I have to say the staff at the Gastro office was great with her. I doubt they understood her bad words, just thought she was losing her mind. lol

On another note, I think we are going with the place I like.

After narrowing it down to two, I sent two emails with some other questions on Monday.

Monday afternoon I had a response from the place I like, Tuesday I followed up my email with a phone call, did the same weds. Now its Friday and still haven't received a phone call or email. I called and just asked for catering dept and asked if we could bring the guys back for a quick look and they told me that they couldn't do it till 6/4! Told me they had 8 weddings this weekend, yup, 8! How the hell do you keep them apart? Who wants to be one of many brides!

When I called on Weds to ask the same thing at Wyndham she said we could come Thursday.

Yesterday we took the boys back to Wyndham, she usually leaves at 6 but she met us at 5:30 and walked them thru just like she did for us, showed us even more stuff like guest rooms etc... and sat us down and showed us ideas in the space for the "circle" wedding look without the room being a circle. She stayed with us until about 7:30 and we never felt rushed. She threw in extras and I think that sealed the deal for my daughter.

My daughter also has a friend from HS that is a DJ that is very well known in all of these hotels, she is on every one of the preferred vendors lists. She told us that the circle room place was beautiful but that the lady who ran it was not warm and fuzzy and sort of a bitch.

She is doing a wedding at the place we were at last night on 6/4 and said that the lady there was a joy to work with.

We told her to prepare the contract so that's exciting!! Now I need to sell lots of soap and soap making stuff LOL

You got that right SO

On another note, we had to put Jake down today. He has been getting weaker and weaker over the past two weeks. Totally blind and getting slower, rear legs not always steady etc..

Took him to the vet this morning because over the weekend he seemed like he was having trouble breathing sometimes.

The long and short of it was that he had massive edema, his kidneys and liver were shutting down and his heart was too. His stomach was really distended and he looked horrible.

He didn't look great this morning but he ate and he looked so much worse just 4 hours later. The vet said that it was time and so we all went to say our good byes and then we took him home and buried him near our other pets.

It was amazing how fast it went for him. I guess he was half way thru the door before the shot because it was literally not even two seconds. It was sad but I feel good about it because he isn't in pain or suffering and I know he was in some sort of pain the past week just because of his behavior. I had no idea he was in that bad of shape but even the vet said it was really quick. Last month all of his bloodwork came back fine. I guess that's the way to go, QUICK.

I'm so sorry about Jake, Flav. I know how much you love him. You went above and beyond what many, or even most, people would do for a dog. It's really hard to make that final decision, but it sounds like Jake was ready for it and I'm glad you helped him leave peacefully.

You gave him a good, happy life. Making sure he got what he needed. I wish, that like Jake, every dog could have a friend and happy home where they're loved.

We do things for our pets all their lives and are happy to do it. Until it gets to the final act of kindness that we know we have to do. The hardest one. Even though you knew it was time, the ache is still there. You'll be in my heart, thoughts and prayers. Sadone

It sure is, it transitioned itself right out of my checkbook into theirs. LOL

Feeling good IS worth it.

So has anybody done any canning recently? I have not in quite some time. I have been doing other stuff and one of my new favs is olive oil and or butter melted down with herbs or garlic etc.. and put into ice cube trays and frozen. I label the baggies in the freezer and just yank one or two out when cooking.

It has cut me chopping and prep time down. When I buy fresh herbs I rarely use the entire package so I started doing this and I really like it.

Even my basil that I grow seems to come hard and fast for about three months, more than I can actually use so I do it with that too.

Any amount of money beat insanity and that's where you'd end up with too many weekends like last one. LOL.

Last canning I did was some meats, haven't done any this spring. Have done some dehydrating. Did some chives and while the dehydrator was out, did some onions that needed to be used, and some jerky. Froze some peas and chives. That's about all I've had so far in big amounts to preserve. Most of my time has been spend groveling in the dirt, planting, weeding, and being thankful for the warm weather and sunshine. It's actually getting too warm some days, to work in the sun during mid day. Wonderful. 8)

That's a great time and energy saver making the herb ice cubes. Real handy and preserves the taste. Don't think I've ever frozen olive oil. Does it freeze solid like an ice cube?

not really nines, it freezes more like cold butter in the frig or freezer. It is a buttery texture not an ice cube texture. It melts almost immediately when you toss it in a pan. I got so sick of my herbs having to be dried cause I couldn't use them fast enough and the flavor just isn't there when they are dried like they are fresh.

I also hated wasting 3 bucks on a small thing of herbs at the grocery and end up tossing half cause I only needed a small amount. To be honest though I love to do it with garlic.

I sauté it in the oil and then freeze them. Its great in sauce, for garlic bread, in pasta dishes etc..

I love the basil/garlic ones use them mostly. A few cubes in a pan, toss a few pieces of shrimp and sauté, add some wine and chicken broth, cook up some pasta and you have shrimp scampi in 15 mins! TADA Dinner is done

Thanks Flav! I did some tonight with chives and butter. Sitting here now thinking how good some tomato bread with chives and butter would be. You've probably had it, but if you haven't, it's like garlic bread, but you put tomatoes on it and top with cheese and melt in the oven or on the grill. Mmmmmm.
