Re: Coffee Klatch
She has her own schedule. It's hard to correct that and find one that works for the parents. I hope all is well.

Things are going very well. She is a really good baby with really inexperienced parents, LOL. They are trying hard and finally starting to listen to me and others rather than what they are told by drs and online. They are realizing that when a Dr says nothing else in the crib, it doesn't mean you cant put a mattress pad under the baby and things like that. she argued with me like crazy about that and I threw my hands up and said, I don't give a shit if you want to change sheets several times a day, just trying to help.

Now that she has experienced the spit up and blow outs she uses a mattress cover pad on top of the sheet. The kind like they give you in the hospital that just get tossed in the wash.

Other stupid stuff like that. The baby likes sleeping on her side and she was hell bent on back sleeping (which I will never understand), and after several days and nights of waking every 15 mins I said lets just put her on her side and she slept 4 hours.

I had to tell her that what drs and online advise is given is sometimes for complete idiots who don't have common sense and you have to figure out which is which.

That baby is really good and they wake her up after 6 hrs at night, she is just about 8 lbs. They are just so clueless that I think she senses it. They do try hard and absorb everything I have shown them. I don't offer unless asked or if I see something that wouldn't be good for her such as not warming a bottle enough, etc.. My daughter is realizing mom really does know best sometime.

I find it interesting about the back sleeping and not warming bottles. My daughter was told the same thing. It just doesn't work as well as side sleeping and a warm bottle.

Glad you are close enough to give hands on help. We will have ours home for a week for Christmas. I'm really looking forward to some snuggle time.

Re: Coffee Klatch
Its been such a long time, don't know who is still following the page but I am giving an update on my life

My daughter got married on July 4th and it was a beautiful wedding. Great venue, great food, exactly what we planned and expected, maybe even better, and we were all very happy about that.

They went on the honeymoon and I watched the baby for a week which I am not used to 24/7 but I managed just fine. She is such a good baby.

I watch her during the week when they are at work and we have a routine, she doesn't give me much trouble and is always smiling and I wouldn't change a thing. She just turned 8 mo old last week and I see baby gates and cabinet locks in my future real soon. She crawls as fast as I walk and is standing and holding on to things and getting around that way. One a good note, Lucy the dog has lost weight running from the baby. LOL

The rest of the family is doing well, my second daughter finally put her degree to use and got a job at a bank and loves it. Hubby and son work together and its funny to watch them interact since they are together so much, they argue like a married couple sometimes.

My oldest daughter also just bought a house and they close on it the end of Aug maybe sooner, it is getting a roof replacement, once complete they will close on it. It is very close, only about 4 miles away and it is beautiful, I wouldn't mind living there myself.

On another note, my grandmother, who is 96 had a gall bladder attack the day before the wedding and couldn't attend, she ended up getting it out and another surgery from the esophagus to remove stones in the bile duct. Two surgeries in 2 weeks and she bounced back better than most people 50 yrs younger than her would have. We were worried sick about her undergoing anesthesia twice in such a short period. They wanted to only wait 2 days between surgeries but we insisted it be longer. It has relieved the horrible back pain she has had for yrs and the Drs said that all her thousands of stones were tiny ones but very numerous and he wouldn't be surprised if the back pain was from passing small ones constantly and the one that sent her to the ER was larger than the others she had. Live and learn, we all thought it was just her age and arthritis, so did her doctors but it has been gone since the surgeries and hasn't returned and she isn't on any medication other than her normal BP meds and even that has been reduced in half and is holding her pressure steady.

So what is going on with everyone elses life???

We are working like crazy. Thankful construction has finally picked back up here. Going to see oldest daughter and grandson next month. He is a year old now! We are going to her custody court hearing. Finally a court date! Hoping to get them moved home at some point. All up to the judge now. Youngest daughter is working and still going to college one class at a time. At least she is not accruing debt. Wish she would take more classes but she really likes being financially independent. I guess we did that right, both girls are fully self supporting. Hubs mom has another health issue. They found a mass in her abdomen this time. Good news, not a tumor but a hernia this time. I guess hernias are good news when you look at the alternatives. We have fires all around us - miles away but sure smokes the valley in. It's like pea soup fog - so much smoke.

The smoky conditions sound horrible, I am glad your getting out of there for a little while to visit your daughter and the baby. I guess Dad is active in his life or there would be no custody hearing.

Is he wanting custody or just visitation? Does he pay her support monthly? What is she currently doing for work? I hope things go her way and she can get back with you and close to family.

It sounds like the younger daughter is doing fine too. Some kids need to go the slower method of school and that's just fine as long as they finish.. My oldest did it all in 4 yrs and my youngest took 6 but they both did finish.

When I look back, the only real difference was the oldest was always using her spare time to study and do work while the younger had plenty of time left over to hang with friends. They basically stayed true to their personalities. The oldest is go go go and the youngest is more laid back.

So glad to hear things are going well with you. I'm hoping to have more grandson time in the future. Facetime is great but it's hard to snuggle on a video phone call.

Congrats to your daughter on the house! What an accomplishment!!! Also glad to hear the youngest daughter found a good job using her degree. I have several friends with degrees that never used them - life got in the way. Son and hubby working together - what can I say? We are a family run company. My brother and I worked for our parents till we bought the company from them. Now we work together and our spouses work with us too. Most days it's a great thing.

Your Grandma rocks!

Yes SO Grandma does rock!

I hope you get your grandson close too. My son has worked with hubby for years and my hubby sort of took him for granted so he got another job, which he liked and that was when hubby realized just how much he relied on him and made him an offer he couldn't refuse. It works out well for them both since he can basically take over the company down the road.

I hope they get to come home as well. Oldest Daughter has a visitation plan to propose that will give the Dad a good amount of time. Pretty much the same time for visits he has now, just more condensed. More time at once but about 3 months between visits. She will also offset the cost of transportation since that is a factor. Hope the judge agrees.

Heading to Missouri tomorrow. Court is scheduled for Monday. Interesting twist - baby Daddy has called for a meeting tomorrow to avoid court. Me thinks he doesn't want his parents to see the official transcripts of his text messages.

It did work out for the best. My guess is he did not want the messages where he said "come get this kid before I start breaking furniture" to be seen by his folks or the judge. Daughter was awarded primary custody. She has to wait 6 months then can file for relocation. He can still object but if she has a good job and housing lined up she should get court approval to move.

That is awesome! It sounds like he doesn't have the patience to deal with the baby himself anyway. Six months isn't that long to wait.

On another note, last week our cow finally had a calf! She didn't even look pregnant so we were excited when we went to feed them and there he was, a little healthy bull that looks just like his daddy.

It's a long story. I'll type it all out later, but for now, we're back in Ohio (for 4 years).

Health is another long story. I have stage 4 kidney disease.

I honestly don't know how or where to start! Maybe I should do an "ask me a question" thing! LOL

I've really missed everyone. After we moved from the hotel, the only internet we could get was a hot spot from our cell phones. Hubs needed the data for work. That's why I wasn't on then.

We moved back to help my brother with my parents. They have both since passed away. My mil is the only one left now.

That's the super condensed version. I'll be around since it's hard to do much anymore. At least, it makes sense now.
