Keeping on eye on the radar. North of DFW and slowly spreading South and East but mostly green.

TB-sry to hear so much for brakes damned
 Quoting: Hard Eight

Thanks, me too. They basically had to rebuild all of it, except the drums. Hope you get some NICE rain and no storms.
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

Severe storms and tornado warnings are up? Batten down the hatches and stay safe!

TB - Sorry about the brakes, that's a lot of money. We had to do the youngest daughter's front brakes $260, and she paid for the back ones ($285 with and oil change included). Didn't have to do the major rebuild though.
 Quoting: Southern OR

We're too cold for the severe weather. Hard Eight is under the gun, though.

That's about what we thought the brakes would be too. It was a BIG surprise, but this has become our new normal.

Uggggg

My hot water heater went out! Never a dull moment! Not getting a new one till tomorrow, getting the on demand system, hopefully it saves money since it cost so damn much!
 Quoting: flavapor

Anxious to hear how you like the new system compared to the tanks.
 Quoting: Hard Eight

I know several people that have the electric ones and they said the elec bill went down 60 bucks the first month. I am getting the gas one since that's what I have now. It doesn't have a pilot on all the time so that should save a little too.

TB, and any other Texans on the thread, hope you're clear of that nasty weather in TX. Keep an eye out and listen to your weather reports. Cowgirl K has a karma pinned thread on it.
 Quoting: Nine's

Thanks Nine's for the head's up. We just got home, so I hadn't seen the weather for tonight. We're supposed to get some rain or rain/snow mix, but right now, it's just tiny drizzle.
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

Glad to hear from you. Kept reading CowgirlK's thread to keep up on it and hope you weren't getting any of the nasty stuff. Stay tuned in though. You know how fast things can change with weather like that and night is the worst. Stay safe!

You know it!

Flav, as sorry as I am to hear about your hot water heater, and I really am, we got you beat today. Brakes on the car...almost $1000. We bought it used, over a year ago. In the past, all they did was change the pads and didn't calibrate anything or do all the other things they should do. Good thing I won at bingo the other night!
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

ok TB I'll see ya and raise you one! Since we have no hot water heater, we decide to get into the hot tub and at least be able to rinse off, jokes on us, the friggin heater crapped out in the middle of heating the damn thing and that's a few grand cause it also heats the pool, and the tankless system we bought is top of the line 9.5 gal per min got it wholesale with all the required wires and stuff for 1300. So I had a really expensive day!

Mama is the venus retrograde still in effect cause its gonna put me in the poor house! On the bright side, computer, microwave, car, hwh, pool heater, I don't think theres anything else electrical to break

Looks like you will have to heat up water on the stove for a bath. Think of it as practice in case SHTF at some point. The inline water heaters are cool. My mother in law still talks about the ones in Germany when my hubby was really little. I guess it is normal over there and they have been the standard for many years (hubs is 48 now and they left Germany when he was 5).

Holy Crap, what a mess. Sorry you're going through that Flav. Things sure have been breaking, haven't they? Mama's dryer, then furnace, then TB's car, your dishwasher, computer, water heater, and am probably forgetting something.

Hope things settle down real soon.

But, Flav, like SO and I told you, heat water. How much trouble can it be? And you don't need a pool heated. Just wait for the sun. Seee, a bright side. Yay.

Seriously, hugs to you.

Flav--Great price on the tankless. Our tank went out a couple of years ago and plumbers wanted $900 to replace and the tankless was close to $1800 installed. The wife helped me and we installed ourselves for just under $500 for another gas-fired tank type. Fun part was the water clean-up of 3 flooded rooms and a long hallway.

We dodged a bullet in our part of the DFW Metroplex last night. Storms had settled when they got here and left us 1/3" rain. Marble Falls & Galveston both had reports of baseball/softball-sized hail lasting 15-20 minutes. Austin reported 2 1/2" of downpours.

Re: Coffee Klatch
Ok serious question.

My husband has been putting a scoop of knox gelatin in a cup of hot tea at night for months and he says its really helped his back pain. He has herniated discs.

Anyway, we bought more at the restaurant supply store and he said it made the tea really thick, as in had a hard time getting the tea bag out.

Now, a normal person would dump that shit out, but not my hubby, he drinks it and THEN tells me all this.

So I read the label and the stuff we bought is a concentrate. 2.5 oz in a gallon of water or juice makes jello. A gallon of jello.

The stuff he was using was 1 o oz per 8 ounces of water. So.. question is, do you think this will do anything to his intestines?

I just made him drink 2 qts of water, but don't know what else to do?

I don't care if he gets the shits or something, but I don't want him to get a blockage.

Any input? This is gonna be a funny story tomorrow if nothing ends up happening, but right now, I am worried.
