Have hesitated to ask about Pete's friend and his teaching. UGH. Did they actually do the deed, or did he tell him, or what? If they actually did it, was it horrible?

Think they castrate the male pigs when they're real little to avoid that strong taste. Glad you have more females in this litter.

When is Elsie going to have a baby? When she does, are you going to milk her? Sure would be awesome to have that fresh milk. Not so awesome doing it early morning and evening every day, day after day, week after week.

SO, glad you're enjoying the baby. Bet he's a little sweetie. Baby's mamma must really be enjoying it too. Get's pretty exhausting when they're little. They're as lucky to have you as you are to have them.

Yes Pete and his friend did the deed with the pig and I didn't watch or even see anything until there was no head, feet or skin and it looked like butcher meat. We are going to castrate some of the males next week. I want to keep one not castrated and we are doing that rubber band method on the others. As for Elsie, her utters are getting big but honestly she doesn't look like shes pregnant. She's bigger than she was but not much bigger. She only got out that once, now she likes it here but she still doesn't really care for me. She tolerates me if I feed her, but mostly she really seems to prefer men. She jumps around like a dog when my son comes around and Pete too sometimes.

I would never try to milk her, she has yet to let me even touch her. Only Pete has been able to touch her.

Pete sure is game for trying things, isn't he? If you could stand to do it, at least you know exactly how it was taken care of and that you have safe meat. Bet that's going to be a 3 ring circus banding those piglets. HAHAHA.

If Elsie's udders are getting are getting big, bet you'll be having a calf soon. Hoping so! How exciting that would be.

That's cute about Elsie and the guys. Regarding the bolded.....YESSSS, make Elsie a milk cow. What a guy Pete is. 8)

Oldest daughter and grandson left yesterday. Had myself a pity party. Cried so much my eyes were almost swollen shut. I have to figure out a way to get past the "See you soon" part. Hope to see them in February.

Poor thing, SO. My heart goes out to you. Good byes are SO hard. The "see you soon" thing is always best, and it will be soon. Time enough to rest up, plan some fun, and get a few things to spoil that baby....again. 8)

That's got to be so hard, SO, I cried my eyes out when my daughter went south a 3 hr car ride. So glad she came back

I don't blame you a bit. Its hard to not have your kids and grandkids close. I cant imagine how hard that would be.

that would be great SO, my sil is in the same situation and she takes off on long weekends an extra day and flies out to get 4 days every three months and if its not a holiday she just takes two days.

Sometimes she flies daughter and baby here instead, then they stay longer cause daughter doesn't have to work

I'm thinking if we can see each other 3 times a year we are doing good. Still looking into purchasing a small home there - hotels are so expensive and I hate having to eat at restaurants for meals. I figure if we buy the place now, it will be paid for by the time we can retire. Then we can bounce back and forth for visits.

Very happy for you TB. All the work will seem worth it when you get settled into a place where you can pursue your interests as you choose and be able to cook when and what you'd like.

Glad too, that you checked in. Wanted to let you know that the heartbreaking and disturbing situation I told you about will be resolved this week. Might take a little time to recuperate myself.

Hey guys! I've got just a minute or two, so I wanted to let y'all know I'll be off-line for awhile. Today is "finish moving out of the hotel day" and the internet isn't up at the house yet. I'll probably be off for a couple of weeks. After that, I'll have lots of time to visit.

Heading down the river for 3 days. The wild and scenic section of the Rogue River. Going with my best friend (since we were 9) and her hubby and twin daughters, one of the twins husband (he is the certified river guide), plus taking hubby and our youngest. No cell phone service, tv, or electricity after 10pm. We are staying at the float in lodges for 2 nights. Great way to reset our clocks - the generators at the lodges turn off at 10pm, breakfast at 6:30. Can't wait! We went 4 years ago and have been hoping to go again ever since. We will see some great country. One of the stops is a hike into Zane Gray's cabin.
