it was hard dealing with just men all these years in my line of work and living self sufficient in the woods until I met the women on glp. I am not alone. There are other women like me. All women, beautiful women, hard working, honorable that love and respect good men. We need equal respect, equal pay, equal rights if you deserve it.

I can not begin to tell you how many times I did twice the job, twice as good in half the time to perfection and some man still refused to pay me because he could get away with it because I was a woman not part of a union for even less than half of union pay.

No, you're not alone. There are many here like you. We aren't all in the woods, but most of us know who we are. When I remarried, a very long time ago, I found a good one. It's not been an easy life, but there was always love in our home. Even when the kids didn't think so! LOL

Mine was the kids.We had a children's ministry at a couple of churches we went to. We were military, so we moved alot. One church had a large van that picked up the kids at the area trailer parks. Most of them were in really bad homes. Some were pretty messed up, but they were such good kids with good hearts. They just didn't know it. I don't know what happened to all the kids, but I used to run into a few and they would update me. I miss them, but Texas is too far away these days.

I learned the hard way to fix some things, like plumbing! It always fell apart when my husband was gone.

I told my kids when they were trying to sort out their careers, that if they knew how to build or fix things that no one else wanted to or could do, they may not get rich, but they'd never go without for long. Turns out they realized mom was smarter than they thought.

Ladies, fix a leaking washer before it rots out your floor, add oil to your engine before it blows up, fix the leak in your roof before it caves in, do your regular check ups and maintinance. If I can grow all my own food, drop my own trees for fire wood, clear wild fire fodder with my chain saw, drop my trees, build my house and yours you can help yourself with a little know how. Ask me a how to question.

My new friend, I'm going to have to call it a night. It's been a very long day today and tomorrow is looking to be the same. We're on mil watch these days. She keeps falling and the doc's don't know why. I have a good idea she's staying outside too long and not drinking enough, but....what do I know! Common sense.

See you later!

Re: Coffee Klatch
I made the mistake of organizing everything not long ago. Now I can not find anything and keep looking for things I need that got thrown away in the process. I knew where things were before I re-organized and forgot where I moved it to.
My memory is getting so bad as well as my eye sight. I have decided to list, label and map out where everything is, the pantry, the deep freeze, closets, under the bed, the tools and parts, the shed, everything. I am so tired of spending all my time looking for what I need, not being able to find it and forgetting what I do have.
A two hour job of rebuilding the lawn mower took two days, most of it looking for my stuff or where I just put the dang tool I just had my hand and my glasses. I get more worn out looking for stuff than doing the job at hand.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79158506

I just did the same earlier this week. I had stuff in 3 different places. I reorganized everything, even FIFO'ed it all. Now I feel much better.

So this is our new thread to get together and discuss anything and everything. Everyone is welcome.

If you want an opinion, advice, or just someone to listen we are your virtual coffee chat.

That being said, I hope everyone pops in from time to time just to say hi and those who dont pop in often find us.

I seem to remember the AOL "coffee klatch" of the 90s. Any relation to that, OP?
 Quoting: Amandalynn

Nope. The originals on here came from another thread that we were on and the OP vanished, so we started another. Glad to see it revived.

Flav, just found out my son and all his workers tested negative. What a huge relief!
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

That is a relief. I found out my niece in Ft Lauderdale area tested positive. Now my sis and brother in law have to get tested too.

Her symptoms were very minor, she thought they were her allergies but got tested and turned out positive. She still only has sore throat and stuffy nose for over a week. No other symptoms. I hope it stays that way.

saying hi!

just got in. will be making my favorite coffee.

Do not laugh. Tried all kinds, had a cute Krups coffeemaker, learned Cossack coffee, etc.

sorry to say I adore instant..... it gives the body I like without any other taste. And cream or such.

watery coffee ain't fun.

you may know my husband died on the 13th. it isn't even a week, time has flown in an instant. Yet as the enormity of death takes hold, you feel it has been so for a long time.

contradictory.

Bless the ones you love with a smile today.

Hey, kiddo! Glad to see you found us. My mom really only liked instant coffee, too. I could never get used to it permanently. 1 cup is ok, but nah. I do have a jar in my preps, though. If I need to used it, there's a good reason. Caffeine is caffeine!

Ok guys, I need some gardening help. We had a strong wind/rain storm last night. My 2 tomato plants split down the middle of the main stalk. I've staked the tighter to try to bring the stalks closer together, but I don't know if it'll work. Got any suggestions?

never had this problem.

I guess I would try:

Get the split stalks together as best I could and wrap with surveyor's tape to hold it together.

Might regrow.

Dunno.

Just a try.

All I have right now is masking tape, but I watered them before I noticed the splits. I'm going to get some florist type wrap tomorrow. Thanks for the confirmation. I should have brought them in. tomato
