One more thing....I hope the ac I was talking to last week will come back. I thought I'd guessed who they were, but now I'm not so sure.

Re: Coffee Klatch
Sorry I was out of the loop, I was prepping the yard and house in case the hurricane hit here. It looks like it may, but I think it will be more of a water event for us since we are already saturated and our daily storms are flooding yards.

I am about 20 directly west of Cape Canaveral, so I am keeping an eye on this one.

TB I know you said your MIL cooks still but one thing I started doing several yrs ago for my grandmother, (yes I still have her and she is 102!) is when I make dinner for my family I make her frozen plates, like tv dinners. She doesnt eat much and sometimes leftovers will make two plates.

It started a few years ago when her arthritis in her back got really bad and she cant do much of anything for any period of time. We were sitting and she told me that everything is such a chore because to cook dinner, she will get to the kitchen and peel potatoes and have to sit. Then she will go back to them and wash and cut them and turn them on to boil and then sit, you get the picture. Making dinner was a half day event for her but she likes to eat a full meal at dinner.

That year I made the frozen meals for her starting in September and kept them in my freezer until Christmas. That is what I gave her as a Christmas gift because I always struggle with what to get her, after all aside from a walmart giftcard, what does a 100+ lady really need???

Well she called me and told me how much she loved that gift. I thought she was just being kind but then my aunt and uncle both called me over the next few weeks and told me how granny just kept talking about that being such a help and best gift to her. Now she gets them for Christmas and her birthday, plus whenever I go up to see her. Maybe if you did that she wouldnt need as much stuff. Just load the freezer with precooked meals that just need heating. Our pharmacies now deliver for free since the covid outbreak so you should look into that too. That way you could just go see her for company and not have to get to so many stores.

My grand daughter is starting kindergarten as well, but she is a size 5-6 so holy moly your grand daughter IS tall!

How incredible it is that you have a 102 yr. old grandma and are able to bless her with such a wonderful, thoughtful gift! It's real easy to imagine how much she must have treasured it.

Hope you're doing ok with the hurricane. Looks like it's going to skirt the coast? Are you getting wind, rain, etc. yet....or am I outdated and it's already past? Either way, stay safe!

Awww TB, I'm sorry. That caregiver stress tests just how heavy a load you can carry. Know that you're not alone.
There are always things to deal with and once you do, a few more pop up to take their place. It seems never ending.

Does your mil get meals on wheels? If not, you might want to look into it. Would help in several ways. What looks to be a delicious meal would be delivered every day. She'd have contact with someone outside of family, someone is checking on her daily, and it's one less meal for you to worry about for her.

That was so nice of you guys to take her supper and groceries. She must have enjoyed that so much. Does she do any crafts, or computer things?

Have you considered grocery store online ordering and pickup, or delivery to help you limit your public contact? There are grocery stores and pharmacy's that can save you a world of stress and keep you safer. That's my main method now. Keeping the receipt is good for a good guesstimate of when someone is going to be needing another purchase. Like you, I'm not supposed to be out and about. Stayed home all winter, now it's become all summer. LOL.

How are your kidneys doing? Are you under a Dr. care right now? Feeling ok?....or as ok as can be expected.

It has to be a real burden to miss the grands. Makes you really think about long ago when people had multiple family homes. It's easy to think how that must have lightened many loads.

You're a real rainbow in your mil's world. Hope you see some in your own life real soon. Truly do with I could help you. Virtual hug is the best I can offer.

I'm better today. I'm sorry if I worried you. I had been in a weird place for a few days.

She used to be a crafter, back in the day. Not anymore. She's been watching her old movies on Turner Classic and puzzles. I've been scouring the stores that we go to to find new ones for her. I found a cool bird one at the birdseed store yesterday.

She still cooks and takes care of herself. She was falling awhile ago, but the doctors adjusted her meds and she is better.

I thought about doing delivery, but talking to my daughter and some other friends, they haven't had the best of luck with it. If it gets really bad, I don't know what we'll do. Cross that bridge when we get there.

I finally got a referral to a nephrologist. I'll have to call my pcm on Monday to get that started. My kidneys seem to be ok. I just wish I could get my sugar numbers back down to normal. They were until about 6 months ago. Don't know what changed. He's going to do another A1c when we go back in September and then we'll adjust.

I guess that's it for now. So far the kids are all good. Anyway, thanks for the hugs. I'll take whatever I can get! LOL

You don't have anything to be sorry for, TB and it's appreciated when you share how things are going.

It's a concern taking care of someone else when your own health is a delicate situation. How high are your sugar levels? Will be good when you can get some help or reassurance.

I haven't tried the home delivery yet either. Don't know if they're offering it this far out yet, but all my grocery shopping now is done online and picked up and it works out real well. I just drive up, they open the back, put the food in, and away I go.

Amazingly, we've been able to get in and out of the stores with little trouble. They haven't been too busy. There are a couple of small mom and pop's we've just gone through the parking lot, though. Not standing in line outside with the summer people! Of course, it always seem to be raining when we need to do a store run. LOL That might have something to do with it!

We went to Home Depot today to get another metal wire shelf. I ran out of room for my canned goods. They'll be ok on the inside wall of the garage. Then I'll have a better picture of the holes in my preps. I did finally get some canned green beans yesterday. I'm wondering if the stores are rotating which ones get stocked. Our Meier was bare shelved for a bunch of things for months. Now they have some. The shelves weren't packed, like they used to be, but they had enough for now.

I am so glad I was able to replace my old, broken appliances, too. The frig wasn't that old. I guess I bought a lemon. It was the cheapest, at the time. All we could afford. The washer and dryer were rebuilt and they weren't gonna get another fix. I just wish I'd have ordered a bigger freezer last winter. It is big enough for the 2 of us under normal circumstances, but not now. I have both packed and I bought a bigger frig just to have more freezer space.

I guess that's it for now. Trying to get laundry done, so I can move cases of cans around. Not EVEN doing them at the same time! LOL

Re: Coffee Klatch
The hurricane was a non event. It broke up pretty much and we got very little rain and a cool breeze most of the day. I would say I got more wind from my ceiling fan.

What I did get is a beautiful neighborhood because everyone always mows the yard right before a storm so we dont get lawn ruts from soggy soil exclam1

You've been super busy! It must feel great to have all that accomplished. Hope you squeezed in enough time to get your Dr. Appt. The aches and pains you have from all that work will be a good reminder. 8)

Re: Coffee Klatch
I had to work outside the house all day yesterday and boy oh boy.

I needed to shop for stuff in home depot and lowes and NOTHING is available.

I do this all the time in my business and every appliance they have is not in stock and delivery dates are 2-5 weeks out. What does someone who just had a frig run die on them do??

It prompted me to buy new parts for my well and other items that typically need to be replaced often like breakers for elec panel.

China is not shipping and whatever is made in the USA is not enough, I see big problems with this moving forward.

I nursed my old frig for a month before we could get a new one. I really tried not to have much in it. The freezer part worked just fine, but the fridge would go about 5 deg. above temp. I was throwing tons of stuff away. Then the washer started leaking again and I just said NOPE! I used the money my folks left me to replace the old. Thankfully, it was in the tiny window. They had them in the warehouse, but it still took 2 weeks to get them delivered. The freezer took 4 months. I almost gave up on that. Glad I didn't.

Re: Coffee Klatch
Almost forgot! I went to Lehman's website. The Amish store. Sorry, I still have trouble posting links. They have powdered butter! You can use it in baking or as fresh butter. I ordered some to try. They also have canned meat that is canned in Kidron, the town the store is in, and some long term meat, also from USA. A lot of it is back ordered, but I was able to order some shredded turkey and pork. They said it would take 2-4 weeks to ship. I just didn't think we'd be driving down there any time soon. Darn! I love that store and area!
