Here in the Netherlands a lot of benzodiazepines are filed under our opium law. I can't speak for heroin, but I can vouch for benzo withdrawal as being pure unadulterated hell. For anyone withdrawing, I recommend you taper your dose down .25% every two weeks. It would be nice if you could wait until you started to level out (feel better) before cutting down the dosage, but that doesn't happen. Hell will start raining down on you. You have to keep plowing through it until you're completely off of it. This can take months. About 1-2 MONTHS after you are clean, you will BEGIN to feel better. I don't know how effective other drugs or herbs are in helping to deal with benzo withdrawal, but I personally found they made withdrawal symptoms worse. I had to go cold turkey from just about everything but water. Peace. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 34272879 United States 02/23/2013 05:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | very good advice from op. if anyone here is struggling with xanax, ativan, or klonopin, it is a good idea to talk to a doctor about switching to valium. it won't fully satisfy your craving, but it will keep you from losing your mind. tapering is hard, but cold turkey is harder, and dangerous. |
