It totally depends on the type of car. I drive a jeep wrangler it's always full of mud and that's how I like it. As far as my other car which is a Toyota I make sure it's always clean.

Hard to say, lots of folks think they for looking purtey, I just use mine to go places, dirt dont seem to slow it down at all.

I have a newer car but also a 23 year old beater that I try to keep mechanically functional but I haven't washed it in two years and it needs a paint job and the only thing I clean is the windows and scoop the trash out of it once in a while and I love it. People don't park close to it and I never suffer any dents from peoples doors. I could leave it in a parking lot with the windows down and the key in it for a week and nobody would steal it. I love that car!!!

BTW....I once noticed some years ago that the paint was getting dull so I coated it with Future floor wax. :-)

I am the 100% opposite...
I don't feel right if my car is dirty.

I even detail the engine and undercarriage.

I know it's psychological.. but I swear it's faster and gets better gas mileage when clean.

I have a friend that waxes his car if he's had it out in the rain. We told him he will have wax build up. He needs counceling. I think there are support groups for clean car symdrome.

You don't even drive it through the carwash and pay a kid £10 to hoover the inside?

inside is fairly clean, but outside i prefer keep it naturaly dusty, love it. but my wife nagging too much about it.

Sounds like me....I also sprinkled rock salt on the car to melt the ice off it in winter....

Too much washing promotes rust. Driving in a heavy rain is like driving through a car wash! If all cars were dirty even the new ones would look as bad as the old ones. :-)

Understandable.

I do need to use some of the snow that's left to scrub brake dust off my rims, before it all melts. My aluminum rims are black with the stuff, esp. the fronts. That's my chore for today.

I don't wash my Benz very often.
