Anonymous Coward User ID: 35150200 United States 02/25/2013 09:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm about to pull my hair out. My son is 38 years old and since high school he has never had a job and didn't go to college. He lays around the house all day playing Xbox and PS3 and farting around on the Internet and doesn't work. He also yells at me and my husband for little things like if we don't buy him the right kind of pizza or if we get him the wrong video game. I have had discussions with my husband but he refuses to kick him out because he will be homeless. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32895948 I'm also afraid he will live on the streets if we make him leave so we don't. He lays around on the sofa eating pizza half the night like a bum and sleeps all day. He isn't fat, he has a 120 IQ, but he refuses to work. He said he hates it so we don't make him do it. Maybe I shouldn't be angry since he enjoys his life but what will happen when we die? He will inherit the house but he has to pay the bills for it. That is what I am worried about. I agree with above poster. You should change your will and let him know it. Unless he shapes up, he won't get the house or anything else. |

Quoting: SoutherBella I have a good friend and she says her daughter can't work because of too high of an IQ.... so she sure can live off mom for 40 years. Excuses.... I don't understand these parents making excuses for their middle aged kids. I would be embarrassed as a parent if my kid was that lazy. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 23654539 United States 02/25/2013 09:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As a psychologist, this is truly a bad situation. Not only does something need to be done, something needs to be said. My clinical advice would be to create a situation, perhaps involving a scenario that would make him feel ashamed of his corpulance. Introduce a female friend around his age, who becoms suspect to his folly, this should create the need for him to rethink his ambition. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2877001 Times are tough, I have many clients who've had to move their grown children into their home because of the current financial climate. However it is rare to hear of an adult male who would be happy in this situation. What state do you reside in? Can I suggest some great professionals in your area that could help you? Oh yes yes I remember this case study from my time at Harrrvard. Its called failure to launch. You just need to find a woman that looks like Jennifer Annison. #1 this is a troll thread. #2 if not you are a failure as a parent and as he gets older there is little you and pops can do. Think how fun it is going to be taking care of him when you are trying to retire. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 4469277 Canada 02/25/2013 09:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It seems like he has anger problems if he yells at you guys over the wrong kind of pizza. He likely isn't happy with his life, or himslef, so he escapes by playing video games. The way he wastes time will only put him in a deeper and deeper hole. Something must be done about his situation. Can he learn a skill? Carpentry, plumbing, etc... We all have gifts (talents) to share with others, hopefully he will stop wasting his sometime soon. |
Alexander User ID: 15635858 United States 02/25/2013 09:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What are you willing to do about this? You could do any or all of the following: Turn off the power to the house. Use hurricane laterns and a camper stove. Cut off internet access. Suggest he join the Coast Guard or military if he wants free lodging and food Cut off all funds and food supply to him. Go out to eat without him and get rid of the food in the house. (Box it up and take it to a friends until he leaves.) Lots of people hate to work but do it to survive. Stop being co-dependent and enabling his lazy life-style. He could also join a Buddhist Monestary which some of our family and friends did. They had a free place to live and ate rice. He could move into something at the Salvation Army. He could join the Peace Corps. Let him know your leaving the inheritance to the local animal shelter. Good luck. We had one son like that and had to sell our place and move to get him out on his own. If not, explain the problem to a therapist and take their suggestion for throwing him out or whatever. I know a kid like that who is not 30 yet and his parents got him a place in a half-way house with SSI disability. You're letting him abuse you and you must have more self-esteem than that. That isn't good for either of you. |

I (Medically Retired 100% with VA Medical) from the Army with 6 Combat Tours I built and Sold a Chain of Restaurants I owned 6 publicly traded companies NASDAQ Small Caps I own 2 Gold Mines (Utah & Arizona) I retired 9 years ago at the age of 37 here in Sunny Florida I am 46 and lovin life. I just cant imagine what kind of life your Son has wasted. I dont feel bad for either of You, your son should have self motivated at some point and you are obviously a massive enabler. You reap what you sew. Enjoy the rest of your lives. I am making "Swamp Juice" tonight from greens and veggies I pick from my Garden C-C-C-C-Ceeee`Ya Does that think your life is a success, did ye when gained all that give all away unto the poor and live as a poor man yourself? If not ye are a failure for what does it benefit a person to have all the riches of the world at the cost of their soul. Success in this world is failure in the next, life was never about mankind enjoying it, ye are the souls which were given a chance to be redeemed if could only follow simple instructions we provided in bible by our prophets. Merry making is condemnation they whom enjoy a world of evil are evil and shall fall in death back into Hell. There it is a harder for a rich person to get into heaven than it is for a camel to go through eye of a needle. All you have achieved shall mean nothing very soon and ye shall see it as a burden. |

A job has always been a trap for the mind for what benefit do you truly get by working for money to buy more things. It does not help you save your already condemned souls 'yes every soul on earth was condemned' life is about redemption but people waste it find out hard way when die by waking up in underworld of hell. |

You tell him he has 2 weeks to find a full time job and if he wants to continue living there he must pay rent and his own food. If he refuses, you tell him you will call the cops to escort him out. If he ends up homeless it's not on you, it's on him. Your hands are clean. He's a fully functioning 38 year old, he has no excuse. You do what you have to do. By coddling him you are not doing him any favors. This type of person needs a dose of reality and a kick in the ass. No need to thank me. Do this and report back to us. |

We all face challenges in life, however I do think it's justified to be angry at your son. He has pissed away much of his life, and your dreams for him to become a productive citizen. And, he doesn't even sound like a nice guy if what you say is true, about him yelling at his own parrents. Good luck.. BusaBear1300 |

Now he has nothing to do. He will want to do something. Suggest he try to do something productive, if he isn't going to get a job, then find jobs for him to do around the house to make him earn his keep. And stop buying him pizza, his diet is likely a big part of the problem, foods are used for mind control by the illuminati. His diet habits are are probably poisoning his mind and being reflected through his behavior. |
