You've seen I can.
 Quoting: Hydra

Yes, you do, and is not correct. Is against any rules of debate. You *MUST* focus on the subject and what the speaker means, *NEVER* isolating little pieces of text. What kind of scientific jornalist are you?

Wow - does that mean that I'm more reliable when I have 5gb?
The size of a webpage don't say anything about the reliability of the page.

What I have read from his page is simple utterly bullshit.
 Quoting: Hydra

No, this means you need to get the context, not *one* line of text. Even the line you bring here is broken.

No, he is making money by frightenig his readers since decades.
 Quoting: Hydra

Bla bla.

He was a lecture at Cornell in 1979 and 1980. A scientist? At best a pseudo-scientist.
 Quoting: Hydra

Yeah, it is a costume to the great University in the world on space sciences to hire non specialized people. Look all their projects with NASA, so poor!

From his page regarding the close approach of C/2012 S1 (ISON) with Mars:
"Mars is gonna slow down in it's orbit, it's gonna drop into a lower orbit, and potentially come much closer to Earth."
Really? Wow - McCanny proves Newton, Kepler and Einstein wrong.
Simple orbilal mechanics: To bring Mars closer to the sun (and earth), you have to speed it up. A slow down would bring it into a higher orbit.
 Quoting: Hydra

Again, you took two broken lines and a half of a excerpt out of context. Where did you learn to debate this way, in a jail? In this text you bring (in the hole story), he was giving some possibilities that could happen *IF* C/2012 S1 is a bigger-than-Mars comet, *IF* it passes *really* closes to Mars, *IF* it passes in a very high velocity and *IF* the gravitational tug occurs due to proximity. See why you can't get little excerpts? I still think you have bad intentions here.

May be he taught Physics, Astronomy and Math for 3rd graders.
 Quoting: Hydra

Sure, it was a project at Cornell to taught to 3rd graders instead of University (kidding).

Btw, can you give any reliable sources, eg from Cornell, abot what he taught?
 Quoting: Hydra

Sure, take a look at adsabs.harvard.edu and look for his papers. He will see that some of them were published through the Math and Phys departments at Cornell.

This three lines describe McCanney quite well.
 Quoting: Hydra

As anything on life.

The way it works is to reference your claims. Where is your reference?
 Quoting: Hydra

References about what? If I'm talking about the Professor I can only send you to his website.

That proves his honesty? Every idiot can make a radio show today. And I wouldn't ran a commercial on a dubious radio show, so do others.
 Quoting: Hydra

No, this proves he needs money to pay for the show himself *BECAUSE HE HAVE NO SUPPORTERS*.

Like his "The Harrington Expedition" in March 2003 to South America? Funded by donations he collected and that came out as a holiday trip exploring Mayan ruins?
 Quoting: Hydra

Yes, as I said he does trips around the world, and the Mayan ruins are very important to anybody studying space, agree?? Mayans where the most advanced people in space sciences in the world during the Empire.

"Professor" James McCanney? Can you give any references to his professorship? At least I couldn't find any - au contraire.
 Quoting: Hydra

The title "Professor" all around the world but in USA and Canada is any person who teaches. As he was a teacher in some countries in Latin America and his audience is worldwide, so he *IS* a Professor.

At least he has a living from selling his crap. Oh wait, after the Mayan-Doom fail and Planet X No-Show it seems he has some difficulties.
 Quoting: Hydra

He was the first person in the scientific world to debunk the Mayan Calendar Stuff, go see his past postings.

Btw: I know how to purify water without a "good water filter". Do you?
 Quoting: Hydra

No, you don't.

Yeah, sure. I'd do like hell and employ a "scientist" who doesn't know planetary mechanics, who states comet Hale Bopp developed into a planet or who takes the coma of a comat as the nucleus.
 Quoting: Hydra

Hale Bopp was a really big comet.

If the Cosmophobia author never read two lines of McCanney's "work", how can they quote? They are quite familiar with his "work".
 Quoting: Hydra

The same way you are doing here: extracting little excerpts of text and being rude.

Even 1 dollar would be to much for his outdated crappy books about Planet X and the Mayan doom date. And what else is McCanney as a pseudocientist (at best)?
 Quoting: Hydra

Bla bla bla.

Reference to his "scientifical papers" published by NASA, Cornell and Harvard and to his "scientific meetings" all around the world.
 Quoting: Hydra

Here: adsabs.harvard.edu. I found more in other repositories, but I missed them.

So Phil Plait never crossed swords with McCanney?
 Quoting: Hydra

No, never.

Shall I look for the transscription of the debate on C2C?
 Quoting: Hydra

Yes, you should. Read your links again, Phil Plait was a guest in George's Noory show to expose his work, not to debate. Anyway, Professor is a guest in George's show every week.

It's quite entertaining and left McCanny with egg on his face.
Some readings obout this:

 Quoting: Hydra

Folks, go there check, Hydra is loosing his heads. Phil is talking alone, there is no debate.

Not only the Cosmophobia page, the Phil Plait's page have so many lies and misinformation regarding McCanney's work that I cannot even start writing it here.
 Quoting: glauco

See above.
 Quoting: Hydra

See above 2.

As a science journalist I have a quite good background in research and especially in cross checking the results - somthing you definitely have a lack of.
 Quoting: Hydra

Bla bla bla.

Yes, times are hard for the McCanneys, Masters and Lieders after the Maya-End-Day-Doom-No-Show.
At least he has a living from selling his crap. Oh wait, after the Mayan-Doom fail and Planet X No-Show it seems he has some difficulties.
 Quoting: Hydra

He was the first person in the scientific world to debunk the Mayan Calendar Stuff, go see his past postings.

It's hard for them now to sell their ideological and physical crap. So they send their last believers to conspiracy forums like GLP to look for new victims, to sell their crap or to accquire new members. Since one month there is a significant increase in ZetaTards, promotors of Marshal Masters videos and McCanney supporters.
They com to GLP like the flies to a pile of shit.
(So I'm not suggesting, GLP is a pile of shit)
