However, at the time of usage, the word more commonly meant mint - as in coinage, currency. So if we assume the meaning in everyday language at time of writing is related to the meaning of the phrase "mark of the beast" then the phrase means "currency of the beast". So what is the devil's currency? what does the devil trade in? The devil trades in souls. So to accept the mark of the beast is to engage in the economics of souls. Your currency is souls. This might mean something like... When you fight to make other people accept your ideas, you are engaging in the currency of souls - you're trying to buy souls into your ideology, perhaps. It could be trying to make a racist not racist, rather than loving them for being a person. Perhaps you're a conservative who hates liberals who tries to argue them into your way of thinking, instead of just loving them. Like the title says, this is a vague idea. Just some brainfood to play with. What might a currency of souls be like in terms of active human involvement with such a currency?

Anonymous Coward User ID: 2251874 United States 03/01/2013 05:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation	Re: Just a vague idea about the whole "mark of the beast" thing OP i hear ya. as far as currency of souls i just see the mark pretty much the same way as the way currency is right now. a few people at the top getting most of the wealth. if 5% of the people have 95% percent of the wealth then it would probably be the same when it comes to the mark. 95% of the world taking the mark and the few people at the top controlling the masses. with some sliver in between of people who get executed for not taking it. after america defaults on its debt then the people will default on their souls i guess. but i dont see it being a literal currency if thats what you mean. just my two cents
