If something causes them to suddenly awaken from their slumber, they may instantaneously begin to care. To drop their conditioning. To panic.

A meteorite or meteorites began to be seen at such a frequency it triggered an alarming sensation in the masses consciousness, it might! be similar to a Zombie Apocalypse.

If a finical scenario so devastating was to occur triggering an alarming sensation in the masses consciousness, it might! be similar to a Zombie Apocalypse.

If a contagion outbreak were to occur at such a frequency it triggered an alarming sensation in the masses consciousness, it might! be similar to a Zombie Apocalypse.

If a foreign invading power were to be realized at a frequency it triggered an alarming sensation in the masses consciousness, it might! be similar to a Zombie Apocalypse.

If UFOs containing Extraterrestrial Life Forms were observed by the masses at such a frequency it triggered an alarming sensation in the masses consciousness, it might! be similar to a Zombie Apocalypse.

If Zombies arose from the dead witnessed by the masses in such a frequency it triggered an alarming sensation in the masses consciousness, it might! be similar to a Zombie Apocalypse.

Maybe not but masses are creepy; Typically corrupted self-serving life forms. This alone may give rise and reason for Zombie Preparedness.
