I have practiced before--never long enough--perhaps this thread will get me to begin again, so thanks for that...

Mr. Li stated in a video that people who attended his seminars received a type cultivation that he placed in the abdomen. And that once the spinning starts it continues. Does this imply that one needs to be in his presence to receive the cultivation of the Fa? It's been over a year, so I may be stating things wrong.

There's no real need to do group confrontation and things that annoy the Chinese government. Just do your own real Qi Gong or yoga practice and avoid the Falun Dafa. Cults are OK in the USA(at least, before Obama), and they're not in China.

Never piss off the government in a place you intend to stay, and never scare them - intended or not. There's never a happy ending. There may be no choice, but in this case, there seems to be.

Qi Gong, meditation are very good things, but find real teachers. Falun Dafa is not the place to study this.

Is this a bunch of very choreographed measured slow exercises? The mil of my friend did them every day, outside, in the driveway. She was old and we couldn't believe how she did these very slow measured moves, every single gay.

it's way more than that. a guy i know is some sort of hardcore member, he basically told me their master, the dude who made up this Fallen Dafa thing, claimed he could talk to the Martians, postponed earth destruction for 50 years, etc. Lots of weird shit cult garbage. if it's just chigong nobody would ban it. elderly people practice chigong nearly every day in China.

Well, I made this thread to clarify the truth to anyone interested or those who may have a misconception of what Falun Dafa is all about. Those of you who have never heard of Falun Dafa are probably wondering what it is, so I suppose it would be best to start with an introduction.

What is Falun Dafa?

Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is a traditional Chinese self-cultivation practice that improves mental and physical wellness through a set of exercises, meditation and development of one's heart/mind nature. The practice is based on the universal principles of Truthfulness Compassion and Forbearance.
This ancient practice, originally taught in private only, was first introduced to the public in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi in China. Since that time, millions of practitioners worldwide have reported dramatic improvements in health and a deepened spiritual awareness.

I am a practitioner of Falun Dafa and I believe it to be a great practice and I have benefitted greatly from it. Although most people that learn about Falun Dafa feel that it is very good, not everyone shares this opinion. I'll try my best to clarify the facts that would lead one to have a negative opinion of it.

Most negative opinions of Falun Dafa stem from the lies put out about it by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The CCP began persecuting Falun Dafa in 1999 and hasn't stopped since. They slander Falun Dafa in all forms of media and even go so far as to detain and torture Falun Dafa practitioners until they renounce their Falun Dafa affiliation or die from the torture. This, to me, seems quite extreme. Why should a practice that promotes Truthfulness Compassion and Forbearance be persecuted to such an extent?

Of course, every story has 2 sides. Falun Dafa supporters will always say positive things about it and those who oppose it will always say negative things. Before forming a concrete opinion of Falun Dafa, i suggest investigating the source and deciding for yourself: www.falundafa.org provides all the reading and exercise material you may need. Zhuan Falun is considered the most essential and systematic book of Falun Dafa, so I suggest starting there.
