Is it not better to observe them like this in the wild versus having them in a cage at a zoo? Any human interference affect wild animals !! I am not defending animals in cages indeed !! I certainly respect your opinion Mexico. We can agree to disagree. This camera provides adults and children alike to view nature as it can not be normally seen. I think if the Eagles were uncomfortable they would not continue to nest there. We sell FUN ! They poop all over too. It's not the poop. It's the fact that we have over protected them up here in AK, at the cost of other species. I understand your position M U F. Too much of anything is not good. I appreciate this for viewers who normally could not see this. Besides, I find the view and sounds on this camera very soothing. We sell FUN ! I got hooked on these nests in Oklahoma last year. Some very shocking things occured and we were all reminded the beauty of nature. Quoting: DaKine [link to www.suttoncenter.org] Thanks! Thank you for this one! I watched this one for several years, Fred and Ethel, right? Then they stopped using the nest for a year or two and I forgot about it. Looks like they''re back. Thank you for reminding me. Did you watch the Pete's Pond, jungle cam around that time too? I don't think they run it anymore due to lack of funding. The elephants were amazing. |

Hi fellow eagle watcher!! Yes....Fred and Ethel are back again this year at Sooner Lake. Last year I watched the Sequoyah nest with amazement. Someone on here recommended that site....perhaps it was you! I did visit Pete's Pond at that time as well...fantastic! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 2150977 United States 03/16/2013 01:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | why doesn't someone truck a few thousand down to the states, build them some nests? I bet people would pay a lot of money for a bald eagle. They would probably wipe out the small animal populations though, unless human beings could maybe share some of their food with the wild animals, instead of hogging the entire earth and feeding themselves til they are mordibly obese. Just think how many thousands of square miles we murder and destroy, to plant crops , to feed our pigs, to over-feed fat people. We destroy thousands of square miles, of our earthly paradise, so we can overeat. If we left those forests in place, and turned them into parks, you wouldn't be eating so much because you're bored out of your mind, you'd have places to go, something to do. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 29218540 United States 03/16/2013 02:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Eagles are fucking sky rats! Quoting: Maximum Usable Frequency Go to Homer Alaska and see how great they are at the local dump. A lady named Jean Keene ( [link to en.wikipedia.org] ) fed the eagles for years and is said to have decreased the juvenile mortality rate by 25%. Compound this over many years and now we have too many fucking eagles. Moving way up into the interior away from the coast pushing out other birds of prey and having a serious impact on some of our migratory birds like the Sand Hill Cranes that summer on the Kenai Peninsula. It's even led to people calling the police to report eagles. This clip is from the Homer News Police Blotter. "A caller at 10:10 a.m. reported an eagle acting suspiciously near Mile 3.5 Homer Spit Road." Here's the source. [link to homernews.com] So to conclude....I don't like eagles. I'm surprised an eagle would take a sandhill crane since they're bigger. I saw one bring a Great Blue heron back to a nest though. I always thought eagles were supposed to be ineffective hunters, often resorting to stealing from other raptors like ospreys and using roadkill. Thanks to the posters for the eagle and owl links. |

The camera is swaying at times. Could be full of eggs, yeah. I think the parent is protecting the little one from being blown away. He sounds like he wants to come out and play though. Have you seen a parent feeding him yet? I know they can wait for a good while before they start. |
