Freedom isn't something people are entitled to "sometimes". Saying that people can still own 2000 different guns are still allowed on a list is like saying "you can drive any car, except red ones".

The other issue is that, when governments start putting restrictions on things that weren't previously restricted, its a slippery slope. It starts with the American constitution's right to bare arms. When a government comes in and starts changing the laws of a nation, the people of that nation become prisoners. You don't let the government tell you what to eat, what to wear, what music you listen too or who you marry, so why are you ok with the government telling you what you can own and spend your money on? Again, the driving every color car but red ones. Do you really think it'll stop with guns? That list of 2000, will get smaller and smaller.

I'm in Canada, and I can promise you this, the only people who have guns, are the criminals and cops( which sometimes, it's hard to distinguish the two) More and more innocent people are being shot here. These crimes wouldn't have happened if the idiot criminals aren't the only ones carrying guns.
