Freedom of the press in the UK is basically dead. There will be a new "regulator" or Minister of the Press. This also will effect the internet. Press regulation deal struck by parties [ link to www.bbc.co.uk] Slowly, but surely, all rights are being eroded on a global scale. Sad world on the horizon. Pity people on here don't read to well. These new regulations affect the untruthful deformation of individuals. i.e phone tapping and dustbin crawling of innocent individuals They do not affect run of the mill daily news gathering in any way. Big business and politicians are still fair game as long as the stories about them ARE TRUE, something the UK press it not to cleaver at in the past.  Let's hope your assessment is correct, but if you go back in history and see when such regulations were set up, nothing good ever came of it. The gov't should not be involved in regulating the press, in my opinion. That should be left up to the civil courts if someone has a beef with a journalist, etc.
