Nixon squeaked out a victory in 1968 promising a "secret plan to end the Vietnam War." As it turned out, the plan involved escalating the war, illegal carpet bombing of Laos and Cambodia and killing millions of people over several years.

His treasonous secret diplomacy pre-election is similar to Ronald Reagan's pre-election treason in keeping Americans hostage in Iran in exchange for weapons.
