The hollow point is designed to mushroom.

This creates maximum damage. Small entrance... massive exit.

It would be nice if there was a real military strategist who could actually do an analysis of this purchase.
...
I get the hollow point is not normal either, but I think it' much more important to figure out how much 1.6billion bullets is in terms of potential lives.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33801296

WWI, 7000 rounds per casualty
WWII, 25,000 rounds per casualty
Viet Nam, 50,000 rounds per casualty

at Viet Nam rates, 1.6 billion rounds should be good for 32,000 casualties.

however it should be noted that the typical sniper, in any war, requires only 1.3 rounds per casualty.

Unfortunately, nope. This doesn't go against any laws either.

They are doing this by the books.

Police can use hollow points - it's only not allowed in a War theatre. The DHS can order and use hollow points on our own land for policing.

This is serious folks.

In other words - these are guaranteed not to have been purchased with the intent of a declared war.

They CAN ONLY be used against citizens...

There will be no "civil war", if needed, the DHS will boss around the peasants and that's the end of that story.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 36553854

Do you know what 100 million armed men with no money, no job, no representation, and no hope will do with their spare time?

They'll hunt DHS.
 Quoting: The Comedian

Your one stupid son of a bitch if you think that desperate people act in a coordinated manner...if anything all your 'armed men' will be doing is robbing and looting to feed themselves and their families.

But you wouldn't know being as you come from a privileged background. Oh, but please don't bother telling me how "unprivileged" you are, as your posts speak volumes about how ignorant you are. You see, people like you don't *really comprehend how ugly it will get if the country resorts to all the unspeakable things mentioned in this thread. You think it will be fun for you and all the gun toting 'preppers', but you don't stop to think about how many people are going to die and how truly ugly things will get.

But what I find absolutely comical is how all you supposed 'tough guys', 'preppers' and 'patriots' talk a big game day in and day out, but when the time comes its going to be you same 'tough guys' who cower in your homes and hand in your firearms along with your rights. You didn't do shit to stop it for the years it's been coming, and you won't do shit when it does comes.

You know what though, it's people like you that aren't going to last long if anything does go down, though not because you don't have materials. You and people like you are going to die first because you have no idea how it feels to go a week without eating, you are the privileged middle class that allowed our country to turn to shit, and when there is no more police to cage the animals in the lower class then god help you folks because it isn't going to be nice.

Good luck buddy

Re: DHS Refuses to Answer Congress on 1.6 Billion Bullet Purchase
Less bullets for the civi's.....When they take our guns away the gov't will definitly have the upper hand but so did the British way back...AND we saw them go back across the POND with their tails STUCK up their asses...

This could come full circle if the Gov't does not contend with being the voice of the people but their own voice.

Make sure that your local politician knows what the people want - If they are not and promoting their own or the gov't aganda - Vote the ASSHOLES out of office - remember WE ARE THE PEOPLE...just as the constitution begins......
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 536288

You can't vote these politicians out, it is all fixed. What do you think they have been doing all these years, while the average American person fills himself with garbage tv, and garbage food, and prescription drugs? They have been planning, while everyone else sits around and gets more and more complacent. Obama wasn't voted in...he was PUT in. It is all fixed, and there is not a god damn thing you can do about it, but come on to this site and complain about it.

It sounds great when you say the "voice of the people", but they don't give a sweet shit about the voice of the people. It has gone WAY beyond that. You can speak to your congressman, but it isn't going to matter. Far too little, too late. This goes way beyond speaking to a congressman. Americans are screwed, unless you get off your complacent asses, and off the conspiracy sites, and really DO something about this.

They will probably need all these bullets to protect the bankers once they start confiscating bank accounts ala Cyprus. They used to at least hide their theft with inflation, taxes, bailouts, etc but now they seem to not even feel like they need to bother being subtle about it...
