After the 57-year-old former oil executive was made leader of a global flock of 77million Anglicans, left, he delivered a sermon saying Christianity was responsible for great advances such as the abolition of slavery and called on human beings 'to flourish'. More than 2,000 people including Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, pictured right, gathered to see him become head of the church. For the first time in history a woman took a central role in the ceremony, which also featured Punjabi music, a blessing from an African archbishop and improvised organ music.
