Report from Iron Mountain
The “Report from Iron Mountain” was a 1967 publication that claimed to be a leaked, top secret government report. It argued that though world peace was a nice idea, the economy of war was such a vital part of global stability, it was difficult to come up with substitutes. A hoax? Satire? Or the truth? For more than three decades, the Report has been a cornerstone of intelligent debate… sometimes.

In 1967, a major publisher, The Dial Press, released Report from Iron Mountain. The book claimed to be a suppressed, secret government report, written by a commission of scholars, known as the “Special Study Group”, set up in 1963, with the document itself leaked by one of its members. The Group met at an underground nuclear bunker called Iron Mountain and worked over a period of two and a half years, delivering the report in September 1966. The report was an investigation into the problems that the United States would need to face if and when “world peace” should be established on a more or less permanent basis. Or to quote from the “official” report: “It is surely no exaggeration to say that a condition of general world peace would lead to changes in the social structures of the nations of the world of unparalleled and revolutionary magnitude. The economic impact of general disarmament, to name only the most obvious consequence of peace, would revise the production and distribution patterns of the globe to a degree that would make the changes of the past fifty years seem insignificant. Political, sociological, cultural, and ecological changes would be equally far-reaching. What has motivated our study of these contingencies has been the growing sense of thoughtful men in and out of government that the world is totally unprepared to meet the demands of such a situation.”

The book appeared during the Cold War, but specifically at a time when America was hit by bloody racial riots in its cities and piles of body bags being returned from VietNam. Was the Government really promoting a culture of war? The “Report” was the most talked about book of the year. A number of people believed the Report was authentic. This impression was helped when noted economist John Kenneth Galbraith reviewed the book in The Washington Post, using the pseudonym Herschell McLandress: “As I would put my personal repute behind the authenticity of this document, so I would testify to the validity of its conclusions. My reservations relate only to the wisdom of releasing it to an obviously unconditioned public.” Still, many, including most other book reviewers, deemed it to be a satire. US embassies were asked to comment and had to disclaim the report, noting it was not an official government report. Still, President Lyndon B. Johnson apparently couldn’t be sure that his predecessor (John F. Kennedy) hadn’t commissioned the report. According to US News and World Report, the President “hit the roof” upon learning of it and ordered that the report be “bottled up for all time”.

Illuminati mouthpieces have tried to debunk this as being a prank, but John Kenneth Galbraith, the Harvard economist admitted he was one of the writers and that it was indeed real. See Edward Griffin's book "Creature from Jeckyll Island."

War is the bigest proponent of our economy? So the trillions of dollars funneled into the poscets of the war machine corporations wouldn't help the economy?

Re: Report from Iron Mountain
"Another economic surrogate that has been proposed is a series of giant "space research" programs. These have already demonstrated their utility in more modest scale within the military economy. What has been implied, although not yet expressly put forth, is the development of a long-range sequence of space-research projects with largely unattainable goals. This kind of program offers several advantages lacking in the social welfare model. First, it is unlikely to phase itself out, regardless of the predictable "surprises" science has in store for us: the universe is too big. In the event some individual project unexpectedly succeeds there would be no dearth of substitute problems. For example, if colonization of the moon proceeds on schedule, it could then become "necessary" to establish a beachhead on Mars or Jupiter, and so on. Second, it need be no more dependent on the general supply-demand economy than its military prototype. Third, it lends itself extraordinarily well to arbitrary control.

Space research can be viewed as the nearest modern equivalent yet devised to the pyramid-building, and similar ritualistic enterprises, of ancient societies. It is true that the scientific value of the space program, even of what has already been accomplished, is substantial on its own terms. But current programs are absurdly and obviously disproportionate, in the relationship of the knowledge sought to the expenditures committed. All but a small fraction of the space budget, measured by the standards of comparable scientific objectives, must be charged de facto to the military economy. Future space research, projected as a war surrogate, would further reduce the the "scientific" rationale of its budget to a minuscule percentage indeed. As a purely economic substitute for war, therefore, extension of the space program warrants serious consideration."

A space economy ?

Can you explain to me why a Saturn V, Apollo or double boosted Shuttle can travel at the 25,000MPH required to achieve escape velocity yet the Intercontinental Nuclear Ballistic missile only travels at 6,000MPH

Even the newly vaunted Hypersonic missile which is supposed to have thew west quacking in its boots only purported to travel at 10,000MPH

If they had the means to achieve 25,000MPH in 1969 why didn't they make the nukes go this fast ?

Such a missile fired from the most eastern point of the former USSR could have reached any and all cities in the USA in less than 10 seconds! I doubt even space lasers could stop them

Also, can you tell me how the astronaughts can survive the 17G's for 2mins 30 seconds that they are subjected to during launch when 9G's will kill most men

Can you tell me how the capsule can bounce along at 25,000MPH for approximately 3 mins during the re-entry phase and not kill the passengers ?

I'm sorry but if there is a SPACE ECONOMY its 100% SECRET

The only way people are leaving this planet is by an undisclosed technology which does not required speed of ascent in order to exit. They are absolutely NOT leaving by Rocket.

your first bitch is nat sec.i completely understand why they are slow.
how do you come up with 17g at launch?
yes theres a space economy but its chinese.i tracked them down.its luxury

we have one too but its military.

space is better than war as it doesnt destroy resources,it adds resources.
its prolife.its growth can be exponential.it can be privatized easily.
billionaires mostly fear it because they are power mad more than greed.power over humans is worth more than money.
