Feeding My Cats BB Tuna - Their Coats Are Glowing!
Cans of BB Tuna have been on sale here for 46 cents. I've stocked-up because tuna at this price is cheaper than wet canned cat food. My two cats seem to love it and their coats literally glow.

Now, they're scratching everything. It may be cat scratch fever.

Kikoman!

My cats have become sushi eating hipsters. Phony felines.

be careful. tuna is loaded with mercury. it can cause brain damage. you really shouldn't feed this to your cats. or to humans.

Yeah, they used to be mousers. Now, they're good for shit. That green glow, the mice see them a mile away with.

Now my cats while away the hours talking about what great hunters they once were. It's like being at a VFW for cats. Only the cats still have the glow of yoof.

Pussies.

I try to talk to it, Cat in the Blue Basket, but no matter what I try ('you like it rough, don't you kitty?' or 'who's pussy is this?') they just yawn and glow.

Knowing the glow didn't come from my efforts is discouraging.

Ha! I have an indoor cat that's a great mouser who always wants to hunt around outside and two lazy SOBs (strays that came from nowhere) that live outside who would rather be inside but the demon one won't have any of that goin' on...

I let the cats eat whole field mice and rabbits, that they catch, and when they have a bad day, they get some dry food.

They are outdoor cats, 2 of them, a mom and son, and they come like labradors when called, will jump right up into my arms if I want them.

I've been feeding my cat Bumblebee Tuna everyday for years.

The idea was that even if regular cat food is cheaper, if the cat doesn't eat it, then it's a waste of money.

Since eating BB Tuna, the cat's coat is much shinier and it seems very healthy. Someone warned me about all the toxicity from the mercury, but the cat seems happy.

Me too, AC. The cats loves them some BB tuna.

That said, and for the first time in this thread I'll be serious, I do consider that the blue tail tuna BB uses comes off the coast of Japan. Fukishima fall-out and mercury may not be good for the cats in the long-haul.

Best to you.

Thread: Bumble Bee issues canned tuna recall

BxMac, you better check this out. It took me a little while to find it again, but it wasn't that long ago. This might be why it's so cheap. Hope not.

Thanks, Tex. Thanks for taking the time to find the thread/link.

That seals it for me. My gut was telling me it wasn't a good move, but the tight ass in me didn't want to pass-up the deal on the tuna prices. Now it's clear, the tuna is out. Can't put a price on the health of any living creature.

Again, thanks for your thoughtfulness, Tex. Much appreciated and best to you.

Yours may be fine. See if you can check the batch numbers. My husband keeps buying really cheap canned cat food for my guys and I keep telling him not to. Then the darned cats beg for it!LOLOL Who says animals won't eat stuff that isn't good for them!?!

Good to see you too! Haven't been able to catch up with you in awhile.

Be careful not to feed too much canned fish. There's some kind of ashy buildup that causes urinary tract infections.

IMO, better to buy your pets premium food and not have to take them to the vet as much.

I feed my cat boiled chicken with broth, bits of bison burger, liver, and occasional dry premium cat food. All organic. She's 17 and looks great--still plays, runs around a lot , and seems very happy. The broth is good for her joints.

Won't the potential mercury and radiation tainting the BB tuna get to them before the salt?

In any event, thanks for the information.
