Father punishes daughters after finding out they put a twerk video on facebook. (Some may find this Video Offensive)

It's one thing to spank as a punishment; watch his hand, it went clear back to Africa before he brought it down with the cable on them. It was done purely out of anger and all the children learned was that they were getting hurt because he was angry, not what they did wrong.

Everybody speaking in favor of the dad has NEVER been beat like this, I guarantee it.

I'm not doubting a lot of you got a few swats on the rear end or a slap in the face or anything, but if your dad beat you like this then you wouldn't be speaking so highly of this dude.

Parents automatically assumed that their daughters are at fault here. But in fact it's quite the opposite!

I believe that children should be the property of parents until majority. It's not that way legally in our country, but it should be. I didn't learn this from anyone else. I figured it out AS A CHILD because obviously my parents were more suited to supervise me than the adult legal system.

which makes me fairly sure you have never raised young children. One can respect them sometimes, but when they are in danger, you have to stop them. If they are about to go out in the street into traffic, you forget about respect and stop them. If they are about to ruin their lives and their reputations by succumbing to insidious influences, you pray and try to stop them. In this case, the situation was probably so bad that another spirit took over, one telling him to stop them at all costs.

Why in the world would respecting them and stopping them from harming themselves be mutually exclusive? I am raising children and I find your response puzzling. We demand respect from our kids but we respect them back. Always. Even when they mess up and we have to punish them for it.

That cut ass most likely saved their asses in the future from being hoes and strippers. I commend the daddy for bringing his daughters in line. That cut hip wasn't abuse. The reason why the black community is what it is because of no daddy in the homes to discipline the children. Only left with the mother. Children in black homes with good father figures always turn out well and disciplined than those without fathers. If my daughters get outta line believe me their asses will see that belt.

Respect isn't really the feeling I have for a young child. Love is, especially when the child is mine. This is not another adult, it is a human being who is becoming more independent, very gradually, but is also my own flesh.

Likewise I find your response puzzling, for that reason.

In this situation, he could have respected his daughters by telling them some abstract stuff about how they should have acted and maybe referred them to a degreed professional for further counseling.

Or he could have been a father and done his damnest to fix the problem. I doubt he even considered this a choice or considered it at all.

Father Indicted on Corporal Punishment Charges

DAYTON -- A Dayton man has been indicted on charges of child endangering, corporal punishment, after police said he beat his daughters.

Police said Greg Horn, 35, is accused of whipping his daughters in the legs with a video cable that connected his TV to his DVD player.

The alleged abuse happened at Horn's home on Fotip Lane.

According to the police report, one of the girls had visible welts on both legs in the thigh area with open wounds.

The girls told police the beatings were their punishment for sneaking out of the house.

The indictment comes this first week of Child Abuse Awareness Month.

"The goal is to always keep kids safe," said Kevin Lavoie from Montgomery County Children Services.

Abuse cases involving children are up. Children Services investigated more than 4,702 cases last year, nearly 100 more cases than in 2011.

Lavoie said their hopes are to lower that number, and to urge people to report the abuse.

"We don't want people to have any reservations about calling 224- KIDS and letting us know about a circumstance or a concern."

Lavoie said that when reporting abuse, you don't have to give your name or know for certain that abuse is actually happening.

"It may be nothing. But rather than analyze it, let our specialists figure it out and the best course of action."

In the case of Greg Horn, detectives said the abuse happened when the girls were visiting their father, and their mother noticed the injuries and called police.

Horn is scheduled to be in court April 16 for his arraignment hearing.
