TO PREVENT PEOPLE WHO ARE CHALLENGED AT REASON AND LOGIC FROM PANICKING ... I WANT TO MAKE THIS CLEAR IF I MEASURED THE COMA [ACCURATELY I MIGHT ADD] ILL SAY SO WHEN I SEE PROOF.

FROM THIS ANGLE WE CAN "SEE" THE TAIL FOR SOME TIME YET
SO WHAT ASTRO'S LINKS SUGGEST IS TO FILTER THE HEAD ON SHOT FOR ROTATION , AND SEE IT IT SHOWS THE COMA IN RELATION TO THE NUCLEUS ...
NASA MADE AN ESTIMATE .. I MEASURED IT .. WE AR STILL EXPLORING FACTS AT THIS TIM

Only question is why is doctor astro taking so much care about
figthing every comet ison is nibobo thread?

You're not measuring the physical nucleus, that is NASA's estimate. The apparent nucleus is not the same as the physical nucleus. Radial gradient filtering is a nice way to reveal the comet's jets, but still is not a direct measurement of the physical nucleus size which is far too small to resolve with an optical telescope.

Off-track? I'm trying to help him understand how to properly measure the size of the comet and WHAT it is he is really measuring and what he is not really measuring.

I'll see what I can do, the comet is still far out so resolving the jets will be extremely difficult at this point.

Latest Picture C/2012 S1 IS Object Nibiru (ISON)
As at 1st April 2013 we have moved slightly further away from the comet as Earth swings around the Sun AU distance is 4.193AU

Comet C/2012 S1 (ISON) Head to Tail 25 seconds of arc @ 4.193AU is 76022 km long or 596% of Earth Diameter
Comet C/2012 S1 (ISON) Sphere (Purple Line) 6.25 seconds of arc @ 4.193AU 19005 km diameter or 149% of Earth Diameter

The big motherlover is starting to fatten up nicely!

Dr. Astro, why is it that after a lot of hype about the size of this comet, it now supposedly turns out to be a lot smaller. If everything can be calculated and after decades of experience with these early estimations, couldn't the scientist have known this? Or at least lower their tone before the comet would get in a range where data like this can be measured more reliable before making such big statements???

Comets are notoriously unpredictable and statements to that effect have mostly been glossed over by the media. Even the popular science media like space.com et al tend to jump to the most "exciting" conclusion possible even if it's not a sure thing yet.

F that man, I've been telling everyone around me to watch this massive comet. There must be some way to regelate date like this in the media. Why are not all comets overhyped? Why this one? Is there a reliable source for news like this?
The first ones that discovered this comet must have said something which the media took off with. The media doesn't make everything up.
So where does this go wrong?

The vast majority of comets don't show initial light curves projecting into naked eye magnitudes at their peaks, let alone brighter than the moon. ISON is a rare one, even if it doesn't live up to the initial projections.
Why this one? Is there a reliable source for news like this?

if comets are so notoriously unpredictable why does everyone believe its going to huge, the better informed ones at the higher end could tone down such over hyped messages in the science community and media.

How strange Dr. doesn't know this
Meteroids are small pieces of space debris - usually parts of comets or asteroids - that are on a collision course with the Earth. They become meteors when they enter the Earth's atmosphere. Most meteors burn up in the atmosphere, but if they survive the frictional heating and strike the surface of the Earth they are called meteorites.

but needs the proof, I mean ... LOL

"In Chelyabinsk we saw a type of comet in which there was almost no meteorite remaining," said Alexander Bagrov, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Astronomy Institute, Interfax reported

don't know if this could satisfy docs super selfish ego (scared from other people) heh
