COMET C2012/S1 ISON : COMA/TAIL OF OVER 64,400 KM [UPDATE] | |
Dr. Astro Senior Forum Moderator User ID: 33360181 United States 04/03/2013 11:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Comets of 3 miles or less in diameter DO NOT produce comas of 30,000 km diameter at 4 AU from the Sun, period. I asked you to provide a real reference from a real source [or did you assume something less] of a comet of the promulgated size of this one with a coma of 30,000 kilometers in diameter at 4 AU. if you cannot do this, you have been outed as the fraud and liar you are. Quoting: Anonymous astrophysicist 1184195 Now suddenly there are size requirements? Ok, fine. Comet 81P/Wild has the same size of physical nucleus. Here's an image of it from August 28th, 2011: [link to www.aerith.net] Now given an angular resolution of 1.8 arcseconds per pixel as listed in the legend and a coma size of 7.2 pixels: [link to img854.imageshack.us] And given a distance from earth of about 481,756,893 km that day (the distance from the sun was about 4.18 AU) the size of the coma was just a bit over 30,000 km. Boom. Notice, no response to this. |

Quoting: Anonymous astrophysicist 1184195 I haven't had time to do it yet but I can tell just at a glance that if the two lower images you posted are re sized so they can be superimposed on each other , it will become evident they are not real because the stars do not match up. Do you know what a rotational gradient filter is? Furthermore, the false color rotational gradient image is about 2x magnified from the original version. And that proves these images are real? How? Is it possible to fake such images? You want me to send you the raw 16 bit originals? I'll upload them, but you'll just lie once again about them being "infected" and ignore them. It's up to you to prove they're fake though. Here you go: [link to dropcanvas.com] |

IDW/A.A, when ISON loops about the Sun and passes without 'thousands' of objects whacking into the Earth in December, as you have implied, will you admit that you were utterly wrong, and that traditional astrophysics proved superior to your intellect? |

Astro must have also put up the 63,000 pages *about* Wild, too. [link to www.google.com (secure)] After a further 19 second search, here's a scan of a BOOK from 2011 describing Wild. [link to books.google.com] Really, IDW/A.A, you could learn to check these things for yourself rather than your wild (ha HA!) accusations. Somehow, though, that seems unlikely. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15777016 pathetic, look in the mirror and see what we see, a gnat trying to become a bug. I am trying to gauge how honest Astro's detractors are being. I see no evidence about what Astro desires at all. However, Astro's detractors seem to enjoy heaping on him, and then failing to give him any credit whatsoever as his conclusions continue to be borne out again and again. So, I am seeing if any of his detractors have rational means by which they can admit Astro is correct, or if they will simply throw mud, and if they will be honest about their intentions -- even to themselves. Regardless if you see him as prideful, lowly in character, or pathetic, Astro continues to be correct. Also, I cannot grok how you regard Astro's character as so lowly, but not IDW/A.A's. It appears to me you have a double standard. I may be mistaken. |
