Re: COMET C2012/S1 ISON : COMA/TAIL OF OVER 64,400 KM [UPDATE]
Comets of 3 miles or less in diameter DO NOT produce comas of 30,000 km diameter at 4 AU from the Sun, period. I asked you to provide a real reference from a real source [or did you assume something less] of a comet of the promulgated size of this one with a coma of 30,000 kilometers in diameter at 4 AU. if you cannot do this, you have been outed as the fraud and liar you are.
 Quoting: Anonymous astrophysicist 1184195

Now suddenly there are size requirements? Ok, fine. Comet 81P/Wild has the same size of physical nucleus. Here's an image of it from August 28th, 2011:
[link to www.aerith.net]
Now given an angular resolution of 1.8 arcseconds per pixel as listed in the legend and a coma size of 7.2 pixels:
[link to img854.imageshack.us]
And given a distance from earth of about 481,756,893 km that day (the distance from the sun was about 4.18 AU) the size of the coma was just a bit over 30,000 km.

Boom.

I haven't had time to do it yet but I can tell just at a glance that if the two lower images you posted are re sized so they can be superimposed on each other , it will become evident they are not real because the stars do not match up.
 Quoting: Anonymous astrophysicist 1184195

Do you know what a rotational gradient filter is? Furthermore, the false color rotational gradient image is about 2x magnified from the original version.
 Quoting: Dr. Astro

And that proves these images are real? How?

Is it possible to fake such images?

 Quoting: Anonymous astrophysicist 1184195

You want me to send you the raw 16 bit originals? I'll upload them, but you'll just lie once again about them being "infected" and ignore them. It's up to you to prove they're fake though.

Good lord, you're dense. I just gave a reliable reference, aerith.net is extremely well known and reliable. Not a .gov either. And yes, many people have heard of comet Wild, it was the comet visited by the stardust sample return mission. Your goal post has been met, your idiocy has been disproven once again.

I LOOKED AT THE LINK .. EXCELLENT BOOK LINK .. BUT I DONT HAVE THE PROCESSING CAPABILITY TO PREFORM A LARSON-SEKANINA FILTER .. DO YOU?
 Quoting: rphunter

Not necessarily Larson-Sekanina specifically, but I do have the ability to process cometary images with a rotational gradient filter using IRIS. Not sure what algorithm it uses, but it is quite effective if used properly.

I believe that happened about 12 years back when I picked up a dedicated mob of flunky disinfo ops that follow me all around the internet at an estimated expense to the government exceeding hundreds of thousands of dollars, given the man hours involved.

BTW, do you know what a "Freudian slip" is? Do you know disproven is not a word? It's "disproved". But thanks for accidently telling the truth you fucking scumbag.

And BTW, do you think i am actually stupid enough to believe NASA and JPL actually intercepted a comet?

IDW/A.A's moving of goalposts there was awfully funny. And quite like him.

IDW/A.A, when ISON loops about the Sun and passes without 'thousands' of objects whacking into the Earth in December, as you have implied, will you admit that you were utterly wrong, and that traditional astrophysics proved superior to your intellect?

Oh, and if you won't accept any of Astro's provided data or sources, what data or source *is* reliable to you? Name the source!

If there is none, you are demonstrably not thinking rationally about the issue.

How unusual.

So, IDW/A.A believes Astro *made up* Comet Wild. Astro must have also put up the 63,000 pages *about* Wild, too.

[link to www.google.com (secure)]

After a further 19 second search, here's a scan of a BOOK from 2011 describing Wild.

[link to books.google.com]

Really, IDW/A.A, you could learn to check these things for yourself rather than your wild (ha HA!) accusations.

Somehow, though, that seems unlikely.

I am trying to gauge how honest Astro's detractors are being. I see no evidence about what Astro desires at all. However, Astro's detractors seem to enjoy heaping on him, and then failing to give him any credit whatsoever as his conclusions continue to be borne out again and again.

So, I am seeing if any of his detractors have rational means by which they can admit Astro is correct, or if they will simply throw mud, and if they will be honest about their intentions -- even to themselves.

Regardless if you see him as prideful, lowly in character, or pathetic, Astro continues to be correct. Also, I cannot grok how you regard Astro's character as so lowly, but not IDW/A.A's.

It appears to me you have a double standard. I may be mistaken.
