Why do you think you are any better than the early Christians who were martyred and that you somehow don't deserve to make the ultimate sacrifice? Many so called Christians will deny him before men to save their lives and will end up losing their lives just like before.

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. Matthew 16:25
