UPDATE: West texas fertilizer had tons of undocumented ammonium Nitrate

So...does anyone have the feeling there is going to be a big boom in the near future?

It is a fertilizer plant,they make the stuff. Of course they have tonnes of it. 400 pounds wouldn't even fill up a pallet.

I know that. I was just relaying the article that says if they store more than 400 pounds, they are supposed to report it to the EPA and the DHS. They have NOT been doing that and accumulated 270 tons.

Now this is a two fold error.

One...the company was maybe too busy to fuck with the paper work and it just got away from them...

Two...The DHS and EPA are supposed to be monitoring the producers of these chemicals...if they are not doing that...what the fuck are our tax dollars paying for?

The point is that they were supposed to report the amount they had, but didn't.

I'm not trying to belittle your statements but the article you posted clearly state they do not have to report ammonium nitrate to the EPA.

They are however, supposed to self-report to DHS. That aside, 270 tons of ammonium nitrate is not that much in the grand scheme of things. Your local Walmart, Lowes, and various garden shops probably have that amount or close to it on hand right now.

The requirement to report in excess of 400lbs to DHS seems a little ridiculous on the surface. That's like 10 bags. Most likely why its an overlooked regulation by most.

That had occurred to me; the explosion was a cover-up for theft.

It appears, though, that the volunteer fire department accidentally set off the explosion while fighting a fire there.

Occam's Razor applies here.

Anyone got an idea where the explosives used in the Boston Bombing came from??

Paranoid? Really? I saw it on here and then it was gone hours later. Why wouldn't I think the OP deleted it?

Did you see my post? It contained all of the documentation regarding the anhydrous ammonia and ammonium nitrate at that facility. Why would a mod delete my information from this thread and not the others that I have been posting on?

It has been determined that the rail car holding Ammonium Nitrate was not the cause of the blast.
