Ron Paul said the law enforcement that swarmed around Boston in the days following the marathon bombings was scarier than the actual terrorist attack. Quoting: Sleeping Giant “The Boston bombing provided the opportunity for the government to turn what should have been a police investigation into a military-style occupation of an American city,” he said on the Lew Rockwell website, Politico reported. “This unprecedented move should frighten us as much or more than the attack itself.” (snip) Mr. Paul, a former libertarian political candidate who served in Congress as a member of the Republican Party, said the door-to-door searches police conducted in Watertown for the bombing suspects were particularly alarming. They reminded of a “military coup in a far off banana republic,” he said, Politico reported. “Force lockdown of a city. Militarized police riding tanks in the streets. Door-to-door armed searches without warrant. Families thrown out of their homes at gunpoint to be searched without probable cause. Businesses forced to close. Transport shut down.” [link to www.washingtontimes.com] Mr. Paul is a smart man. Or at least a man who understands liberty. |

All it takes for tyranny to take hold is cowards to allow it. I dont blame the tyrants as much as I do the cowards. So what? You get shot because you're trying to make a point? Great idea pal. Tyranny will take hold everywhere it is allowed, and so many like you who dont understand that fact of life are the very ones making it more likely here in the US. No one would have likely gotten shot, and if they did, then thats what it takes to maintain freedom at times. Freedom is not free and does not come without a price. The use of force is a requirement to maintain freedom. |

Of course they will have something to justify the means, and by using the media to make it seem like this should be the normal approach, everyone eats it up. This is America we don't need 25k foot soldiers armed vehicles and a whole city locked down to defend ourselves. Everyone was already on alert. If you think this was about looking for that single kid then you are just as brain washed as the rest. The city was swarming with police and choppers already. They had a shoot out, the kid got away in a vehicle, abandoned it yet police and FBI k9 and all that air power couldn't track him down until they had their little town takeover set up.
