Egypt has withdrawn from Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) talks in Geneva in protest over the failure of the international community to implement a resolution for a Middle East free of nuclear weapons.

On Monday, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying the country ended its participation in the two-week talks over other nations’ failure to implement the 1995 resolution, which calls for the creation of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the region.

“We can’t wait forever for the implementation of this decision,” the ministry’s statement said.

I wonder if Morsi has thought about making Egypt the next nuclear armed state in the Middle East?

I can see more countries in this region following suit now that Egypt has set the mood.

Did the US make a deal with Egypt's MB
as an indirect overture regarding Iran's nuke program?

The Salafist/Sunni MB dispises Iran Shiism.

Win for MB and the US.

So basically Egypt is telling the UN to do something now or shove their treaty up their asses.

Sounds reasonable to me.

In a sense I can understand their frustration; seeing Israel getting away with zero inspections and non-adherence to the NPT, but Egypt has to understand that the hypocrisy is out of the U.Ns control. If Israel has nukes, they have nukes and nothing is going to change that.

Egypt has to make a choice as to whether it wishes to become an overt (or covert) nuclear weapons state in the Middle East. It wouldn't be the first time it has made this decision in its history. It used to have a pretty active nuclear program.

That's exactly the point. If nobody is willing to inspect and/or potentially disarm Israel then Middle Eastern Non-Proliferation talks are completely meaningless.
