I think most martial artists will tell you its the individual, rather than the style which is the main factor in achieving a high level of skill. If there were one be all and end all art, we'd all just do that one. That being said, Fu Jow Pai which means "Tiger Claw system", is an art that thrives in a real street encounter. Its not a fancy style to look at, but when cultivated properly, it's highly effective. Fu Jow Pai was put to the test and thrived during the 60's, 70's, and 80's in New York City's Chinatown. (an era and location where self defense was truly needed.) There is still legitimate (And thanks to youtube, I've seeen a lot of bullshit passed off as Fu Jow) Fu Jow Pai being taught today, one just needs the proper channels to find it.
