I also train in a little Kali, Muay Thai, and Savate. Of course, I'd prefer to have my concealed pistol and a Recon 1 Cold Steel before I went to H2H. H2H is the absolute last resort. And by that I mean, "Oh fuck, I'm naked, getting out of the shower, and I can't reach the scissors on the fucking cabinet above the sink! If there were one be all and end all art, we'd all just do that one. That being said, Fu Jow Pai which means "Tiger Claw system", is an art that thrives in a real street encounter. Its not a fancy style to look at, but when cultivated properly, it's highly effective. Fu Jow Pai was put to the test and thrived during the 60's, 70's, and 80's in New York City's Chinatown. (an era and location where self defense was truly needed.) There is still legitimate (And thanks to youtube, I've seeen a lot of bullshit passed off as Fu Jow) Fu Jow Pai being taught today, one just needs the proper channels to find it. |

Krav Maga Is a non-competitive tactical self-defense system developed in Israel that consists of a wide combination of techniques sourced from boxing, Muay Thai, Wing Chun, Judo, jiu-jitsu, wrestling, and grappling, along with realistic fight training. Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-world situations and extremely efficient and brutal counter-attacks.[1] It was derived from street-fighting skills developed by Hungarian-Israeli martial artist Imi Lichtenfeld, who made use of his training as a boxer and wrestler, as a means of defending the Jewish quarter against fascist groups in Bratislava[2] in the mid-to-late 1930s. In the late 1940s, following his immigration to Israel, he began to provide lessons on combat training to what was to become the IDF, who went on to develop the system that became known as Krav Maga. It has since been refined for civilian, police and military applications.[3] Krav Maga has a philosophy emphasizing threat neutralization, simultaneous defensive and offensive maneuvers, and aggression.[4] [link to en.wikipedia.org] :nose23l36: SCOTLAND FOREVER America is the Grand Experiment..Let us not Fail.. Anonymous Coward User ID: 29065835 United States 05/01/2013 01:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | it depends on the martial artist. although, I find Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do to be extremely economical and efficient in a street fighting situation. these styles use many principles to practice, such as, Drawing, Recycling, Trapping, Non-telegraphic, direct attack, and indirect attacks. also with the particular styles strength and size do not play a vital role in the art. mostly in the sense that you are suppose to be as relaxed as possible with all your movements including punching. if you do some reading or watch some videos on this you will understand better why this is very effective. ~Kyle |
