GLPFAQ Karma and Pins

I found this thread buried down deep, I felt it needed to be shared.
I wasn't aware I had 10 karma votes to give daily - in fact I knew very little about the green color chart by a username.

We're gonna run through some basics for you 'fresh off the bus' types

<------------------- over there you will notice two thumbs.

a green thumb up, and a red thumb down.

A green thumbs up gives the associated poster: green/positive karma

a red thumbs down gives the poster: red/negative karma

the karma system is anonymous... unless you sign your username/handle to it... the choice is yours.

No signing SOMEONE ELSES name to the karma you give!!! We do not allow abusing other members like that.
otherwise karma is earned by the 'value' of your posts... if folks like your posts, they will leave you green... if they dont like them.... they might leave red...the Karma system is meant to be a "feedback" system and a way that users can earn points helping GLP by reporting copyright violations and other abusive posts. It is not meant to be traded like "Stock" for no reason other than to just accumulate points with your trading buddies. We do not allow karma exchanging for that sole purpose, it violates the spirit of the whole meaning of "Karma"!

the red you receive can get kinda mean... so toughen up and don't make posts complaining about it because that will only make it worse!

Upgraded members receive 10 Karma per 24 hours to dispense to other members.

Members with a free account have 5 Karma to dispense to other members.

Once you give someone karma, you must wait 7 days before you can give them another karma.

you can exchange green karma earned for karma prizes.

There are two steps to karma prizes. You have to buy them with karma and then redeem them.

What are the pins?

The graphic below identifies each pin.

Only the Forum Moderators and administrators can use the standard and super pins, but you can pin threads too using the personal and green Karma pins!

This how to use Karma Pins and Personal Pins:

The area highlighted above shows you where you use a Karma Pin. In the first post of a thread under the posters name you will see the layout depicted in the graphic. Click "Pin using Karma" and bam, its pinned.

A Karma pin is bought using your karma, in the Karma prizes section: [link to www.godlikeproductions.com]

It can be used to pin topics you think are important to the main board ---> [link to www.godlikeproductions.com]

**All pins, including Karma Pins are subject to being unpinned at the discretion of the GLP Mods/Admin at any time.

The area highlighted above shows you where you add a thread to your personal pins (if you have an upgraded membership)
Only you see the personal pins on the main board. Hence the use of the word 'Personal'

if you are not an upgraded member you cannot access the personal pin feature... but you'll see the rest on the board.

Thanks again for the explanations. I've noticed lately when I post, I don't have a red or a green thumb next to what I say. Is that bad? How do I get a red or green thumb added to my post? Thanks

I dont see thumbs for karma so is that what the bubble with plus sign is next to the pin in a person post? Thanks

I have this question too.

You have to be a member (even a free member) to see/do the karma.

It's funny how green karma has a thumbs up and red karma a thumbs down. Why is that?
