If I decided to live in another country, I would learn whatever language is used there out of respect for the people and their culture.

If you want to live in the US, learn English. Period.

We have the same problem with the 5 percent hungarian minority in my country, 80% of them do not speak the romanian official language .

DENVER (CBS4)- A group of Hispanic custodians at the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver are claiming they are victims of discrimination.

They’ve filed a complaint against the campus operator that could be reviewed by a federal judge.

What started out as a miscommunication over a schedule change for employees working the graveyard shift has become a full investigation by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

“Too many things have happened to me there that I don’t even know how to explain it,” said Auraria custodian Bertha Ribota.

Like the United States, Australia has no "official" language. People have pointed out Colorado has English as the official language. It is just a question of whose rules take priority e.g state or Federal.

My personal opinion if you move to a country you must learn the language spoken there and not expect to get pandered to in your own language.

In Mexico, some of the native people esp. in Chiapas in the south don't speak Spanish. They are members of cultures that were there before the Spanish arrived, and they still speak those old "Indian" languages. Do they get to have official documents translated into their native languages? Do they get to require government offices to speak to them in a language other than Spanish?

Nope, didn't think so. :)
