Don't "choose" a religion for the sake of choosing one.

Life of Pi. (book/movie)

He explored many religions.

He laughingly called himself a Catholic Hindu, so he could be judged by millions of Gods! LOL.

Maybe look at Buddhism. Less dogma, more thinking, understanding, awakening. Great stories too.

What is the meaning of life...
 Quoting: Tat2D2

That is a philosophical question, not a religious one.
How is learning others' beliefs going to help you find your own answers?

Religion is the path of disingenuous cowards

and

Philosophy is path of courageous truth seekers.

You might start by reading the revered books such as...

The Bible

The Bhaghavad Gita

Tao Te Ching

I Ching

The Prophet

The Eightfold Path

The Book of Five Rings

These will give you a beginning...
But Lord, he stinketh!
