WTH?

Did anyone notice they showed overhead wires catching on fire as well as the manholes exploding because of electrical shorting out? Something tells me these solar flares might be causing this to happen. Didn't the telegraph wires catch on fire during the Carrington event? I'm no electrician but couldn't these flares cause power surges?

From Wikipedia...the overhead wires catching on fire made me remember reading this...

If strong solar flares can cause telegraph pylons to throw sparks, ignite overhead wires, blow manhole covers because of electrical shorting out...wth could it do to the sinkhole in LA?

Could be related to the methane that seems to be seeping out in a number of locations and a carringtom type of situation providing ignition.
